Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner was working for the DA in... uhm San Francisco or some place like that, working to take down organised crime. She was (and still is) a brilliant lawyer and her efforts were damaging the business of some very powerfull people. So a hit was put out on her. While these things were happening Banner was still on the run from the Military and he just so happened to swing by his cousins place on the day the hitmen striked.
Walters got a critical bullet wound and lost a lot of blood, but luckily our favorite super physicist also just so hapened to know everything he needed to know about anatomy to set up a blood transpant in her living room. After he finished giving her a blood transfussion he took her to the hospital and fled the scene because he was still wanted.
Next thing you know the hitmen turned up at the hospital to finish of Walters, and SURPRISE giant green freakish monster lady kicks their ass.
