Well one week gone and i'm still a non-smoker.Starting the new job today which should make things easier, it's incredibly difficult not to think about smoking when you've nothing much to distract you, and you use ciggarettes to punctuate an empty day. So new job where i have not built any smoke break habits is a good thing.

Bad news is i keep finding old packs with one or two in them in various jackets, drawers, etc. I must have been some sort of nicotene squirrell or something.

Stay strong brother. I'm finding it difficult to go back to work after summer break. I have a lot of built in smoking habits dealing with this job. The past couple of days have actually been more difficult than it's been for weeks.

I assure you sir, now that I'm past the bad times, the feeling of smug superiority I get from have the willpower of a rock is better than the joy of smoking.

P.S. You smell.

Tell yourself what ever makes you happy.......

Self-righteous ex-smokers make me want to keep smoking........there is no lower form of life.

Except, of course, for failed ex-smokers. :)

I still say I quit at the statistically worst time for probable staying quit, ever. If you can figure that out, good on you. :)
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Ok, I have been smoke free since the one ciggie I had first thing tuesday morning. I haven't had any since then and I'm down to a tenner to last until payday (which is still 2 week away *sob*) so I won't be smoking purely because I can't afford it. Hopefully this will help get me started in joining the ranks of the smug ex-smokers.

Poverty is a great motivator. Don't waste the opportunity, once you go 3 days the nicotine is out of your system. Having even one after that only starts you over again. If you make it to the 3 full day point, smoking at all after that is only torturing yourself.

Day 5.... cold lifeless hands pull me out of my comatose state of mind. The nicotine beckons me once again. Groggily, I wander through the house, searching for anything to take my mind off of it. Doughnuts, no. Too non-nicotine-y...coffee, meh, no desire to wake up....internet...yes, theres where I might find solice....click on the forum, oh look, an Im quitting thread, theres support....3 days my ass, I think to myself. Day 5....need to find a distraction...the pack of cigs beside me look good...but the wife would know, and then I would lose...hey I know, I'll go buy a ps3. that will help....goodbye day 5...until tomorrow.
THIS IS HOW I ROLL BITCHES!!!

I recommend bacon to get through that first week. I ate bacon every day for something like 10 days. It helped.

Also, get the tea tree oil australian chewing sticks. The minty menthol zip when you bite one will help pretend you are getting some blessed nicotine.

I buy them at a store called Super Supplements. I imagine a lot of different supplement or health stores will carry them. Probably they can be ordered from the internets. Get these:

there are also cinnamon flavors and whatnot, all rubbish. Get the ones with the color scheme in the picture.

I've made it all the way to Friday. Now for the difficult part - the weekend.

My smoking buddy at work has also returned from a business trip today so there is temptation (ie free fags to be scrounged) all day today :D So far, so good, I'll just have to stay strong.
