This thread is boring me now. I only check RLYs updates to see if he says he has caved. We don't want tales of success. We want to hear about psychological weakness and tragic failure. What kind of freak are you?

I am a rock. A non-smoking things rock. I am free of psychological weakness. If you really need to hear of my tragic failures, follow my posts in the messing with your groove thread. You'll get a giggle.

@mez

Yeah, this great big self-support hug-fest is getting a little out of hand.....but it is definitely motivating me to stop.

It actually runs through my head now when I get cravings....the guilt that I'll have to post in this thread that I cheated, and that my internet friends will think I'm less cool.

Funny enough, me too. It would be more than a little embarrassing to have to come on here and admit defeat.

You could occupy yourself manipulating global events so RLY ends up pacifying a war between some aboriginals and has to smoke a peace pipe to seal the deal!

You know, I find that whole peace pipe thing to be completely out of context....;)

becomming a non-smoking itself rock lately too.

My usual smoking buddy has been puffing away over the last couple weeks and I've resisted the urge.

Steeling my mind against it is really working. I want to be a non-smoker and anything else won't do.

Booyeah.

Mocking those who you used to smoke with is a lot of fun. Good work man. Glad to hear it's going well.

For the record, I am still smoke free, but it hardly feels like news at this point. I'm still getting urges to smoke, some pretty bad ones. Today I started reading a book and almost fell over I wanted a dmoke so badly, since I used to love to smoke and read. My books tend to still smell like cigs. I let my dad read most of my fantasy books, so random anti-smoking newspaper articles are hidden in a lot of my books, which is kind of funny.

Mocking and schadenfreude are just about the only things that got me through this week.

My smoking buddy's safely away in Ireland, but late last night I had the shakes so bad I actually bought myself another pack. I got out of the store, stared at it for a good thirty seconds, and then hucked it (and my lighter) as far as I could into four lanes of traffic and ran. My friends were laughing for a good hour at my expense, but I made it.

A side note, the lighter EXPLODED on impact.

Proud of you. Once that pack is purchased, it's really difficult to not smoke it. Good work. NExt time you get a craving, remember that moment. WOuldn't want to waste that herculean display of willpower by cheating later.

It was like turning down sleeping with Gemma Atkinson...

But it's like I had +5 to Will Saves vs. Smoking pants or something. Herculean indeed, but it felt really good.

What's 5 bucks (plus 2.50 in taxes) for my health and dignity?

...

Maybe it's still there on the street and I can return it...

Go to a supplement store and buy some Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Australian Chewing Sticks. They help, a lot. It's great for the oral fixation, and if you bite into them you get a pleasant burning sensation because they are infused with tea tree oil, menthol, cinnamon, peppermint, spearmint, and sweet oil of fennel. They are a lifesaver.

THis is the one you want:

EDIT Good jeorb wry. You will never be as cool...but your lungs won't hurt anymore. Gotta take the good with the bad.

I've been doing surprisingly well.

Definitely cheated a couple weeks back when I was too drunk to walk around, much less think for myself.

Other than that I've been squeaky clean on the cigs. I even cut back significantly on the hemplike products.

Yeah i know CF, my lungs feel like lumps of wood these days, so i'm looking forward to that stopping.

I'm pretty confident this time round, i'm starting a new job next week and school a copla weeks after so i'll have no bad habits there to break.

Plus it's not been so bad today...
