Actually, when you think about it... his lameness actually met then exceeded our high expectation of douchebaggedness.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Indeed. No one predicted it would be this bad.

Bad? Bad? This is magnificent! Could we honestly have asked for better news than this concerning Tairy's new book? No.

Word. I seriously thought he was going to go off and write bad right-wing thrillers, which are ten-a-penny these days. Instead, it sounds like we have something truly wondrous on our hands. Goodkind is indeed the gift that does not stop giving.

You know, it is possible for something to be both good, and really, really bad.

Seriously... there was a real risk that Tairy would retreat from the world and live in a cave growing his beard beardier and scratching out the complete works of Ayn Rand in his own feces. Instead, we get years, possibly DECADES more of him to make fun of. I predict wild crazy lesbian fantasy sex between the two female leads in the first book and then a solid month of Goodkind insisting it's not a book about lesbians. Then in the second book there will be even MORE lesbians, a bit in the third, then no lesbians for four or five books until a lesbian appears again in the finale, but that's just Goodkind responding to the fans because he doesn't write lesbian stories, he writes THRILLERS, dammit, and the whole Rahl thing is just a coincidence...

- Abyss, ...for one, is thrilled. And bleeding from his eyes.

Maybe the market for Goodkind books are the Goodkind-haters (plus Assail)? That would explain this new series and the blurb. As long as he keeps a straight face and talks about his not writing fantasy and objectivism and throwing in the occasional demon-chicken he's home free.

I am at once awe, dumb and thunderstruck....and this thread broke my mouse!

I don't know whether to be delighted or horrified...I think I need to go and have a lie down in a dark room.

I think I can be happy about it as long as we have one (or probably a relay because it would be toooo much to ask one normal mortal to risk their sight forever) to read and give us the 'best' bits to...um...admire?*

*aka, kill ourselves laughing at...and yes I am PROUD to call myself a lemming of discord...I just haven't got round to throwing myself off a cliff yet...make me read this though and I just might!
'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

Greetings. I am new to this forum, and this is my first post, but I believe I can contribute something to this discussion, which, in my mind, seems decidely one-sided.
As a long term fan of Terry Goodkind, I feel it is my duty to add to this.
The reason Terry is writing a similar project in the same vein as the magnificent, dare I say it, groundbreaking Sword of Truth series is simple.
It is because Not enough people understand his philosophy just yet.
Mr Goodkind's way of thought has set me free, and I can now embrace Truth. I think that it was a tragedy tha he had to end the Sword of Truth series, but all good things must end.
So, by writing a new series based around the same principles and life-changing mentality, Mister Goodkind has opened a new door for readers of a different genre of writing.
I truly believe that he will set the world free, mastering each and every form of writing.
God Bless you, Mister Goodkind.

You realize he would mock you for the source of the blessing you just gave, seeing as it is directly opposed to his "life-changing philosophy"?

Ah, irony. :D

Uh-oh.

Before the rest of the scary mob comes in and starts pointing you towards the thread where the SoT is discussed, let me just warn you. Many others have made an attempt to convert this unholy heathen mob onto Goodkind. You will be belittled as a lover of Tairy. You will see the series you love get thoroughly stomped on, trashed, discarded, and brutalized. Most here (either a very loud majority, but more probable dominant majority) loathe the Sword of Truth. I read the entire series, and find his philosophy to be not only as subtle as a blunt instrument to the head, but also quite appalling.

Just be forewarned. If you take take the heat without getting too upset over it, you will surprises many and earn a very well deserved reputation as thick-skinned. If, however, you do not have a thick skin and are a true Tairyite... well, I've warned you.

However... the wording of your post makes me think you might be being very facetious about your admiration.

That being said: Welcome to the forum!

Preach on.

In particular, the bolded bit was a nice touch.

The more I read it the more I read it as being sarcastic. Perhaps someone took up a guest-alt.

Perhaps that is true. However, I believe that Mister Goodkind is accepting of all creeds and cultures. He is no dictator, no. He is simply a man trying to show us Truth, and a better way to live our lives.
But if you take umbridge with my blessing of Mister Goodkind and believe he would not be at least amused by it, then I shall refrain from doing so in the future.

Rahl

Also, thank you for your welcome.

I am not being in any way sarcastic, sardonic, or humorous in my devout belief in Mister Terry Goodkind. Truly, every book from Wizard's First Rule to Confessor has shown me a little bit more of the Truth. My friends and family comment on my air of serenity, the peace that accompanies me since reading Mister Goodkind's books. I have discovered new meaning in life, and I beg you, please, do not mock those who have discovered a different path in life. After all, there are many paths.
But only one Truth, and it is as True as the blade my hero, Richard Rahl, wields.

You're not the first to try this schtick. That would probably be a boarder named The Shining Enigma. He even used the different font thing, just like you. Perhaps you are The Shining Enigma come back to try again. Either way, I'm not buying it.

I believe the word you are looking for is "umbrage". "Umbridge" is the evil woman from the Harry Potter books that took over Hogwarts.
