Liosan, since when is stating the obvious considered helping the enemy?

Considering a lot of people of people on the thread are saying the reveal is a decent idea, and a lot of what you pointed out in previous posts has already been discussed and rationalized, it's not exactly "obvious" now is it?

So, try again?

There should be a 20 question quiz on the rules before the game, if you get 70% or below, you can't play.

I think that I will use this on the next game that I write... I might also make a RP quiz if you score high enough then you get to have a role... :snigger:

k, well those last few pages were a ton of back and forth between a bunch of ppl

for the tellann issue, I think hes right in his assessments of the game and right that there probly wont be an inf reveal, but it still sounds like hes discourging it, which is wrong. it might be unlikely, but on the offchance that it could hapen dont discourage it cause if it does happen thats good for us!

Eloth seemed fine to me in tryin to keep scum on the radar, i dont think he was lessening cult much at a ll and the little of his that could be takn that way is excusble

Serc sounds like a prick, real quick to point out the teeniest of commonplace erors and get mad at folk for it, but thats not necessarily scummy just annoyin

and Omtose is very cool headed through it all

glad we have tons of time left, for now i gonna

vote Rashan

because there has been no explanaton good enough to excuse voting night and nothing else catches my eye. plus thers that recent bit on him contradicting himself. ill be on this afernoon before the deadline, later!

@thyr - not playing to be a prick, I am playing selfishly and aggressive as the format dictates. The more people that find it annoying...the better :p .... for me.

Finally here, stupid time-zone differences and shit.

Anything crucial that I need to catch up on over the last 9 pages/330 posts? Or is this still day one and I can just walk in and start playing?

@Korlat

Actually, for a day one it is pretty info dense. Lots of good speculation on the DP 'cult' and some surprisingly overt talk about how people with certain roles should be playing. Some of what was aired might have been better off brought up later methinks, since there are some things that almost come across as "scum should do this if they're smart" :p

Lots of it is back and forth between individual players though, so even after reading it I'm not sure I have much I am able to add to what has been said. It's worth a read, and might even provide some evidence that points to scum down the line. Except for the creepy sex bit in the middle and a horrible haiku by... I've forgotten who wrote it. Haven't forgotten the haiku unfortunately. :p

Ah, well, then I'll have to force myself to wade through it, I suppose.

Thanks, Barghast - just didn't want to waste my time. *sigh*

Hmm, after a couple of interesting votes, the thread degenerates into spam (page 6). Dammit, it was too good to be true

OK, a few things come to mind.

There's been a lot of people arguing why the infected should NOT reveal.

Take that post for example (and there's been a few others by Tellan):

View PostTellan, on Jun 22 2009, 05:10 PM, said:

meh
my point still stands.
DG can also get lynched.

either way, I fail to see why the hell the first infected should be eager to reveal.

Liosan, please excuse me for expecting the players not on my team to actually not cooperate with our strategies. Shocking, I know.

We honestly lose NOTHING as a team if the infected reveals. Best case, he gets de-infected, worst case he dies, and the cult loses a recruit. The infected has a lot to lose, but not us. So why would Tellan argue so much the reasons they should not do it?

remove vote vote Tellan for being a potential DG.

A few other things:

Rashan's vote for night is a mystery to me. What is the point? Get information? Not lynch blind? What the hell does it help to do this? There's a reason it's considered a sin in mafia, specially on the early days.

He says at one point he argues with Eloth that we put too much emphasis on the cult instead of hunting the killers, but his vote on night is 100% based on a "cult"-minded game, he's not thinking of the killers at all.

I don't share your annoyance with Eloth as I have to agree with him. This whole thread has been focusing almost entirely on the cult faction. I don't know if it's because it is much more interesting to talk about the cult than then killers or not but we do need to be aware that we are dealing with multiple sides here.

On that note, has there been anyone that has done an analysis on killers post counts and content from past Mafia games that might be able to give us clues on who the killers might be?

Lastly, Hood's Path makes my arm hair raise. He's been asking too many question about what to do, "wondering out loud" about things, adding question marks to statements instead of simple periods. I've seen that style of play many times before in the scum.

Finishing up, 1 page left.

Dude, I don't BELIEVE they will.

as such, I consider your cajoling them to do so, even if you yourself don't believe they will, a waste of time. And I'm simply pointing that out.

If you simply did't believe they will, you would be discussing something else, like who you think is a killer.

Saying "They won't reveal because if like they do and we lynch DG then they like become the next DG and they are SCREWED" sounds like desperation to me.

Can you please be a bit more specific about these supposed contradictions? I also removed my vote for night like 6 hours ago. It was never a serious vote in the first place and it had no hope of ever being voted by 2 people let alone the 11 necessary to have it come to pass. If peoples reason to lynch me are based soley on the fact that I voted night then they are a bunch of idiots.

vote galain

for being a bit too overly zelous in voting to lynch me. I should put my vote in for someone that has contributed nothing but fluff to the discussion but I'm tired and I'm a bit suspious about how strongly galain reacted to my vote.

This reasoning makes sense to me. There has been a lot of talk about infected revealing or not and in a way it's as Amp says, a moot point for our team.

He and a few others like Thryll are the ones who I was referring to in my post to Korlat. Some of the suggestions about mechanics raised would have been better off brought up later. If you believe your reasoning is sound, use it to possibly trip up the scum later rather than give them ideas along the way! :p

So, for offering bad advice to anyone who might become infected:
