We always say we'll lynch a low poster, but never do. Too much sympathy for day 1?

Too much fear of hitting a power role, I'd say

and, Korv, I'm leaving soon, cba to log in invisible.

Lynch a low-poster eh? What about the people who haven't posted?

@Korlat - all very well, we can get a speed lynch, if people are on! But the time left gives us plenty of opportunities.

All 3 of the non-posters (Emurlahn, Korvalain and Gamelon) appear to have magically appeared, summoned by my post,

Okay, well, this is a double post but 4 other people are just hanging out so, meh. I'm not going to wait on somebody else to post.

I don't see much of anything. No apparent slips. No serious cases being made, thus no pressure forced onto possible symps. Even those who bring up suspicions, then say they "aren't really serious", which I guess I understand (there's nothing to go on).

Lots of silly votes and remove votes.

Only one thing jumped out of me, and that's Korlat calling herself by third person earlier, and it just struck me as strange because it was one of her (Korlat's a lady) first posts. But, then she stopped. Just jumped out at me as possible role confusion.

As for the spam/anti-spam which is easier to hide in... it's day one. Nothing to really hide from yet, unless you get a noob whose a killer with a half-joking case (the ones based on post-count and no substance of what is in the count) against them that overreacts. And, I haven't seen any of that.

As for lynching low posters.... I'm wary of anyone who doesn't want to lynch low posters this game. It is going to make a very easy place for a killer to hide, due to.... circumstances. And, yes that is meta, but people will and have been using it as an excuse already.

Edited: to replace "low voters" with "low posters".

Only two moderately interesting things have caught my eye so far:

Om mani padme hung,
fellow brother-monks.

Checking in, today's fairly busy for me, just decided to drop by to say I'm here.

Also, I am puzzled:
We appear to follow the Path.
The scum belong to the order of the Shaper.

so, what does that make of Path-Shaper?

Which just seems kind of odd ... someone making a point of mentioning their Inno status in their very first post. Kind of forced.

And, as someone else pointed out:

One thing I gotta say is, Shadow was awfully cool about having 3 votes on. I know it's day 1 and they're joke votes, but I would have expected more indignation or at least a comment. It seemed a little too "I'll just ignore it and hope it goes away."

As I noted in the last game, on Day One, the fourth vote is a vital tipping point. It can give a case with no merit a bit of unwarranted momentum, and a lot of lazy votes will follow, especially if the Day is winding down. This is why an absurd Day One case with four votes is a good place to look for scum - that fourth vote should be suspicious, if anyone's thinking clearly.

In light of that, it just seems odd that Korlat tried to bring our attention back to those votes, though they'd been removed by that point.

OK, i've tried to concentrate...there's psuedosilly-cases on Kesso and Korlat, and sort of kinda not really suspicion of Shadow from Korlat. Shadow who has the most votes so far. Well, I wouldn't say that 3 joke votes out of 9 serious ones needed is something to get uppity about, as Korlat suggest, which makes me think Korlat is trying to add more pressure to Shadow by suggesting there's actually something serious there....

This is Tellann drawing the opposite conclusion? Or are you essentially agreeing with him, that pushing someone towards that 4th vote is a scummy thing to do?

Well, I removed vote because it was a joke to begin with (called me "darling"). And I was also the first to remove. So any 'pushing' for a lynch on Shadow is fabrication.
I have to admit, I don't remember that "4th vote" speculation from the last game. As I said to Lio, I was just pointing something out on Shadow, on a day when there isn't much to point out.

And now Emur is pointing out that I pointed something out. SCUM!

The 3 Shadow votes:

1. Korlat (Shadow called him dearest)
2. Kesso (self-fellatio is worse than s and m pic)
3. Lio (evidently blasphemy against monks of some sort)

Why in the world would Shadow take those votes seriously? All three have NO substance, and anyone who attempted to jump on that is going to look scummy until a better case is made.

Edit: Replaced "that" with take. Day 1 = Mystery wrapped in an enigma.

Well, if what Emur is saying is true, then Shadow should be afraid of that 4th "tipping point" vote. If you believe that's the case, wouldn't you defend yourself?

I guess you would start defending yourself whether you were scum or inno at that point. When I brought it up, I was pretty clear that I didn't think I was pointing out something rock solid.

Honestly? I'd be ready to start a case on the next "joke" vote or overly ridiculous (for day one that's saying something) cases as scum or symps pushing a case. It would come of OMGUS, but would also make sense to anyone reading the bunk case. That's why I guess remove votes are important, so that OMGUS cases aren't made for someone who is jumping on the back of joke cases.

I could be utterly wrong though.

Korv, I read what you wrote 3 times and I want to make sure I'm reading this right.

If you were Shadow you'd make an omgus case on the next joke vote since they are likely scum pushing a case? But then you want to avoid omgus cases on people jumping on the back of joke cases as long as they remove vote?

Am I interpreting that correctly?

No, I'll try to clarify it. I'd be ready to start making a case on whoever offered up that fourth vote, presumably not going to be a joke vote (right?). So, my reaction would be read as an OMGUS reaction right? Probably pushing my case further into question. Hopefully, I could successfully push a case on the fourth voter or person pushing for that fourth vote (whichever is scummier imo). However, when I came up inno, that 4th vote would then be seen in a completely different light. It's a gamble, but better off that something come from a crappy day one lynch than nothing.

This all assumes that the fourth person is indeed scum. Thus, the then meandering trail of thoughts about why people do remove votes.

Long night is long.

Ok, I gotcha now. Well, we could really wifom this because there were a lot of people on while there were 3 votes on Shadow (it sat that way for a while). So, since none of those online people supplied a 4th vote, this makes them look innocent? Well, of course not. This 4th vote speculation is a little rough if you ask me.

It's 1:30 a.m. and work sucked. Dinner at 12:00 isn't so fun.

Stream of conciousness stuff from me, to be honest. Like I said, the only thing that caught my eye (including all the voting, which I just kind of disregarded as regular silly votes) was the third person you used, and then stopped using. Frankly, it just read weird.

Yeah, it's quite rough. Just a bit of a touchy subject to me, and something I decided to keep an eye on in future games. I'm hoping that by bringing it up we can keep any particularly stupid trains from building simply because the scum put votes in momentum-producing spots, to manipulate people into a lazy, mob mentality.

As it is, I don't see enough to cast a vote on anyone before I head to bed.

I'll still be around for a couple of hours. Might as well take a look through some stuff again. Doubt I'll find anything though.

Just caught up with the thread now. Bit surprised by the lack of spam in day 1 and lack of content as well, there's almost nothing out there. Knowing us we'll get a lynch but its starting to look like a hasty one built on thin air and hope. Didn't see anything out there even remotely worth a vote at this time though.
Will be around all the way till the lynch give or take a few breaks.
