Well she did make a second post after GA threatened to ban her to correct herself, undoubtedly since Bgwan was mortified by her daughter's language on a forum she frequents.

this is what i hate about typing dammit. i use tone and facial expressions more than words to generally convey what i say because i use a LOT of sarcasm (though not in this case) and it never comes out the way i mean it when i type.

Must say I was somewhat impressed that the girl actually went and defended a book that already had 5 pages of hate against it, so I say kudos to Lucy.

Of course, this didn't stop the next 35 pages of flaming, but the effort counts, right? :The Force:

Also, it's soon TwiTard film nr. 2...only three months left...not that long when you were hoping it'd never come out at all...

That said, anyone else picked up on this one? http://www.kidglue.com/2009/07/28/twilight...g-in-the-works/
I was excited at the prospect at first, but apparently it's just a couple of freelance programmers who lurves the Twiverse and decided to make a mmorpg where you could...visit the vampire's house and...well, that's about it.
Seeing however that the chance of Stephanie (or whoever owns the rights to it) deciding that they want to sponsor the project is on the negative side of zero, I find it likely that this project will just die out quickly, having accomplished nothing except branding that poor game designer to being the black sheep of game designers all over the world.

Edit: apparently new info is that it won't be an mmorpg, and that they'll have a playable prototype available at november the 20th (by the New Moon release date, that is).
Well, I'm sure that they'll manage to come up with a high-class video game in 4 months, give or take a few weeks. That's the normal schedule for video games, right?

Right.

A flash based browser game to set the standard for the Twilight merchandise, can't get much better than this.

No, Twilight fans would just cower in fear from the WoW raids.
Or ban half the planet to avoid said raids.
Then /b/ would get involved, and the raids would become horrible.

Can you imagine all those exciting hours, being on the computer, and pretending to stare at someone while they sleep? AWESOME!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

There are a lot of similarities between anime/manga and Twilight - mainly there's a lot of creepy stalking, rape and the whole "clumsy girl acquires entourage of gorgeous supernatural people/beings, several of whom fall in love with her" trend.

The difference between manga/anime and Twilight would be question of healthiness.
The majority of mangas are comic books, i.e. they're made to amuse and entertain.
Just like most kids wanted to be like Batman or Spiderman when they grew up, who wouldn't want to be a cool guy with superpowers surrounded by 15-or-so buxomous girls?

Point is that manga/anime often makes a point of being exaggerated and crazy.

Twilight markets itself as "Oh this is how true love should be, why can't all guys be like this?".

Or at least that's how the fans interpret it.

And yes, there are crazy anime fans (although I'd hazard to say, not shoot-flare-gun-at-people-crazy), and yes most cosplayers fail miserably at what they're doing (not to say there ain't some good ones though, cause there are some awesome cosplayers out there).

I enjoy reading mangas as a hobby, for me it's like reading normal books, except they got pictures. That said, I'm not into the whole otaku thing, with cosplaying, RPing, learning every single detail about your favorite characters, etc etc.

I think of it as a way to spend time, just like any other. In fact, it's one of the best ways to spend time, if you've found a good one.

I know far too many wapanese waiting for their Cloud Strife and or Kenshin to show up and whisk them away in the grips of their angsty love.
Manga/anime are inherently the same as Twilight, except instead of one manga series there are several.
The sheer level of fanaticism I've seen for manga/anime matches what twitards pump out.
Just give them a good mainstream opening of a well produced movie and we'll all be thinking were back in the 80s when Japan was set to take over the world.

Though I will say that sometime, once in a blue moon, at every galactic cycle when all the planets in the universe are aligned, a good manga/anime may exist. Twilight can never do that.

+1

I've seen all of 2 exceptional anime series in my life. The rest were more or less trash.

Twilight is worse than that.

One of the subsets of the mental derangement known as otherkin - people who believe they aren't really human but a genuine dragon, fairy, vampire or other fictional creature, of which furries also count as a subset, albeit a very popular one (seriously, all I have to say about furries is that as a child I once saw a program about skydivers and I thought it was pretty awesome. I didn't dress up as a skydiver and fuck other people dressed as skydivers. Fucking furries.) - is know as otakukin. These are people who, rather than pick a mythological being with a long and storied history to pretend to be, instead say they are actually reincarnations/alternate reality versions/whatever of video game and anime characters. In most cases, characters created after they were born.

Things like that make me question whether the internet is really worth it.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

That is one of the most rediculously awesome things I have read.

And I would not have known about it if not for the internet.

How can that make you question it? It gives you more things to hate.

Things that deserve hate - like otakin. And furries. And otaries. But not ovaries. Also, anime.

Except not a game, but a delusion that they really are their unoriginal - and copyrighted - characters.
