So, what about a game? The stupidest commitment I may ever make on this forum...

Excellent resume, hehe. I'm still undecided if I'll need a secondary mod. It certainly could be good for keeping rules checks and the action flowing, so I'm probably going to take you up on that offer, just in case. :)

But if you'd rather play, that's also fine, as I *should* be able to cover most of it, and looking at the time zones we have quite a lot of overlap with each other and the nominal 'dead hours' of most folk...we'll see.

Well, you're more than welcome to join, but you may want to observe how things go down in the initial run, too. It helps to see what it's like. Check the "How it works" post for an example if you haven't already.




OK, by my count, that makes 11/12 who're gonna be free before December, and a whopping 15 who are free after December. That works fine for me, the more the merrier, but I will be splitting y'all up more often with those kinds of numbers. :p

I'm going to put up the necessary W40K background and probably the character creation mechanics/requirements today, and then you guys can get to building your characters/asking questions, and then I'll see about running a 'practice' mission (integrated into the overall plot, of course...) once we've got enough peeps with chars for that to go down. ;)

I know the feeling Ment. Just finished exams this past Monday myself. Yay for 4 months of holiday! XD

Though your exams are probably going to be slightly more strenuous than mine. :)

I take it you just want to follow along via the thread, and not spoilarz yourself, assuming you might join in once exams arrive/are over?

Excellent. If anyone with good knowledge of W40k wants to PM me ideas for the 'basics' of the setting (see what I've done so far* and comment please...though not in the thread) it would be much appreciated. I hate condensing so much awesome into such a small amount of space, but it's necessary so that people unfamiliar with the setting can get into it. :p

*I was even going to do it all 'fluffed' up with in-character language, but then...that would both be awesome, and way harder, and harder to get the important bits out of. :)

I'll take a look at your stuff Silencer if I can as a potential player. I'm fairly familar with WH40K world and stuff. I just can't do it tonight, big exam tomorrow.


@Ment- I have no RP experience either, so sign up with me, we can noob it up together. Also good to start in December during round 2, so you can watch the first few weeks and get an idea of how it works.

I've got my last exam on the 29th of November. After that I'm all in..

It would be great if you got this running. I've tried two games here so far and both sort of faltered.

P&P RPG is just not my thing...

Yup, it's the hardest part of RPGs - keeping them going. Hopefully, with my extraordinarily long break, I should be able to dedicate the time to GMing...the rest of it is down to the players. :p

Answer those, and I will be able to play. I live in GMT -5, and can play most days from 4 to 6pm, with a smattering of posts between 10am and 2pm."

Shortly, regarding the settings, as for free reign, I'll be putting up relevant materials *very* shortly. I'd prefer people to avoid overpowered characters, though.

He paused for a long moment in thought. "If we do use alts, I will certainly be taking notice of alt guesses, but - and this ties into your next question - cutting off dear Bubba's head would be an act of extreme violence against another player, so he'd have to agree to this at the time, or I would have to OK it. We can't have you all willy-nilly attacking each other, after all, can we?!"

A deep breath, followed by a short sip of his beer, and Silencer continued, "Your goals will be made clear to you all ahead of time. To be sure, some of you won't be working to the same goals that are made apparent to the whole group, so don't get too friendly."

OOC: Yeah, pretty much. It's more interesting if you have a character and something to talk about, though. :)
You don't really need to indicate your actions with *this is an action* markers, though, if you can work them in like I've done. And you shouldn't really OOC comment in the middle of a sentence like I did up there. XD

Alts are an interesting concept, but it may be annoying for some folk to have to log in to two separate accounts. I know us mafioso are used to it, but it's an additional concern in something that's already fairly complex...I'll think about it. Once you all get your characters in (once I've put char creation guidelines up, lol) we'll see about creating some.

Go here for some slightly more in-character examples (down the bottom). :p

Updated the Character Creation guidelines with Abilities.

You'll have about one (1) week to submit a character from the time when the guidelines are finished. I will post here when that is done...though really, all that is left is the Equipment section, so you can start now - the equipment won't have much bearing on your char.

Also, PLEASE NOTE: All questions regarding characters, the setting, the setup &ct, are to go through the Lord Inquisitor account.

All questions regarding the RP board, RP rules, and so forth are to go through my main account (this one).

EDIT: Damnatus. Warning, this link links to the TV Tropes page for a fan-film called 'Damnatus', which contains a link to the leaked movie. It is actually a REALLY GOOD IDEA to dl and watch this - though you didn't hear that from me - for an example of the kind of thing (basically) that we'll be doing. :rant:

It's also not a bad movie, if you don't mind subtitles or if you sprechen zie Deutsch...it has been a long time since I last typed that, don't hate me for spelling it wrong if I have. XD

Whoa, that DAMNATUS movie is well over 600 MB, which is a bit much for my (slow) prepaid wireless credit. Maybe later when I get to Brisvegas and get proper broadband.

Yes, I keep forgetting that, only six months ago, that would have been almost 1/10th of my total data gone, and not much before that it was worse. But I understand.

Still, it's probably worth it if you get proper 'net.

Also, yes, Innocence Proves Nothing. Also, "There is no such thing as a plea of innocence in my court. A plea of innocence is guilty of wasting my time. Guilty." Haha. :)
