I want you all to go see CABIN IN THE WOODS.

That is all.

So my wife convinced me to go and watch 21 Jump Street. I went, fully expecting it to be terrible and stupid based solely on the fact that it has Channing Tatum in it. I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually really funny, and I would recommend it if you want a laugh. I never really watched the tv series, so I say this in ignorance.

Mrs. QT and I saw this and really laughed a lot....and wholly didn't expect to.

and my main reason for not wanting to see it

turned out to be unfounded.

... That movie was terrible, and far from funny. I felt as though my brain cells were committing mass suicide while watching it. I ended up leaving the cinema.

I thought a fellow Malazite would have taste.^_^ ...

I'm going to assume it's your bananas, strange lack of sense of humour that makes you not think funny things are funny...but I can't give you a pass. That movie was HILARIOUS!

Abyss, go see it and laugh

So I finally watched Melancholia. And it was decent, but I was disappointed.

Hobbit news....

http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-17836380

Anyone else think that maybe the search for clearer and clearer images/3D in cinema might be going too far? HD is suited to some things, but since our own vision doesn't show us everything in our field of vision in HD focus at the same time, the effect on big screens can actually look a bit.. unreal.

I would have thought that for something like the Hobbit, a lower resolution and frame rate would add atmosphere and a feeling of age to it, but hey, new technology always seems to be the most important aspect of film making these days.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

thankfully for all the haters the movie will come out in regular 24 frames per second aswell.
...┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐...

Why dont they make the whole plane out of that black box stuff?

The smoothing thing/higher frame rate thing is something that is so ingrained in us...we are so used to frame drag on 24fps that anything showing us a more realistic view of the scene makes it look fake.

Mrs. QT's new TV was like that and we both were really freaked by it, so I took all the default settings off to give us back our drag...

the thing is though, when camera shots sweep quickly at 48fps you don't see the blur you normally would...

is it something we can adjust to? Probably.

Is it going to be difficult to do so? Oh hell yeah, I loathe it when I see it.

LOL

I'll be interested in seeing the Hobbit...but the trailer didn't seem to be bad in that regard...so I wonder how it could look bad...

Watched The Raven today.

It was pretty awesome. Especially if you know anything about Poe.

Edit -> apparently I need to state that it is the new one with John Cusack, not either of the older ones.

Watched "The 5 Year Engagement" last night. Pretty damn funny movie. Of course, Jason Segel can makes me laugh no matter what.

With the kids, watched KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE. Good family fun.

Without the kids, watched THE INCREDIBLE HULK as part of pre-AVENGERS prep. Can't figure out why, but since the '70s TV series, I've just never been able to get into Hulk anything.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Maybe cuz they just keep telling his origin story over and over, and you're stuck with the same old confused, angry, stupid hulk doing not much but surviving. With The Avengers he might actually get past that point for once.

Either that, or the '70s series was so awesome that none of the newer titles can compare.
