Gigli?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Unstoppable. Tony Scott knocks it out the park. No thought involved whatsoever, but seriously entertaining. I was just sitting through the hole film chortling with glee... :)

the mexican?

i just watched Up. Again this surprised me, i laughed at "squirrels" as i do that with my dog. as a whole, i enjoyed the film, it made me laugh and cry, totally unexpected. i thought it'd just be a cartoon, but it had some romantic bits and some comedy, especially the fat asain kid :) 7 colourful balloons out of 8

I'm genuinely curious, are you not familiar with Pixar? Or just for some reason not a fan?

Point!

Grown Ups. I was disappointed, and i wasnt expecting much. Its like they had half a script and let them improv the rest and it wasnt that funny. A few laughs, nothing more.

4 WTF happened to Chris Rock? out of 10.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

the thing is and sorry for this being my third post in a row, i was thinking that Chris Rock has been in a lot of things, like a tv series, madagascar, grown ups, etc etc where as chris tucker has been in Friday and Rush Hour but has gone since and not been seen. so my way of thinking is where the hell has Chris Tucker gone? That's why I mixed it up

This. Was so fucking ridiculous, it was an EPIC WIN. Went to see it last night for $10 with a friend, we were the only guys in the cinema, which was good, because otherwise we would not have been able to laugh so loud and so hard and make so many "WTF IS THIS SHIT BUT IT'S STILL AWESOME" vocalisations.

Oh my god that was one of the best $10 I've ever spent in my life, I think. I mean, seriously, the only thing that was missing was this:

Attached File  Bruce Willis as Potter.jpg (46.04K)
Number of downloads: 2

And I'm actually being serious. It had EVERYTHING else you could want in a movie.

Best part, however, were the closing credits.... :)

Megamind is amazingly funny. I loved it. My brother loved it. My female friend loved it. Seven forget me sticks out of seven forget me sticks.

I'm watching Mr. Brooks. It is probably my favorite Kevin Costner movie. Certainly one of the best "serial killer" stories I have seen.

I really wish they'd get around to doing two more films in the series, but there doesn't seem to be any buzz on the internet so the project may be dead :p

EDIT: And now they're showing "The Hunted" with Tommy Lee jones and Benichio Del Toro. Damn that film is awesome. Probably my favorite Lee Jones film, but he's done some good ones over time.

Monsters. It's an unusual film... think of Avatar. Think of how far removed you can make a film from Avatar and still be a sci-fi involving aliens. Heck, it's even set in a jungle and involves a love story, but really it's so completely the opposite.

Basically, think of something like Lost in Translation as a road movie with aliens with an Apocalypse Now/Werner Herzog/Terrence Mallick vibe thrown in. It's a beautiful film to look at and an affecting one too. I hope it gets the word of mouth it deserves (me and my brother were the only people at the cinema today). You definitely have to be in the right frame of mind, but it's defo worth a watch.

Recently I've seen Winter's Bone -- a very strong thriller set in the Ozarks with a great young female lead who I'm not otherwise familiar with, and also featuring John Hawkes and Garrett Dillahunt (both of Deadwood fame). One of the most intense thrillers I've seen in a long time, largely because the danger feels absolutely real (unlike, say, a crazy clown puppet on a tricycle).

And I watched Cyrus last night, also quite good. I already love the Duplass brothers, and though it wasn't my favorite from them, it was still a neat little story. Definitely took a lot of surprising turns that didn't follow the expected formula of this particular gimmick (arrested developed son doesn't like mother's new boyfriend). I wouldn't call it a must-see like I would with Winter's Bone, but still very entertaining.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I watched 2012 at the weekend. What a crapfest that was.

The first escape in the plane was entertaining, in an over-the-top effects explosion, but after that it was so dull I ended up fast forwarding through bits of it. I'm usually the first one to complain when someone says they've done that, as surely if i hadn't missed bits it would have been better?

In this case I really doubt it. I really hate these movies where a few effects laden scenes are held very loosely together by a few crappy character stories. They didn't even try in this imo, I mean, the broken family/replacemant dad thing, wasn't that 'War of the Worlds?' And they always kill off 'replacemant dad' somehow too, what a great message that is.

It could have been entertaining, but really it was no better than the straight to tv movies on scyfi channel.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

want to get in the festive spirit, have a good watch at a romantic movie? enjoy something with your mrs? well watch The Holiday with Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and I think Jude Law. Very nice movie, had a good twist imo with jude law's character but either way it left me feeling warm and happy inside.
