I liked Public Enemies, you bunch of heathens. It did have an odd lack of momentum but it was a bloody good film.

funny how the rest of the world disagrees with you ;)

Much like when Apt tries to claim Tranformers 2 was anything but crap

@morgoth

Transformers 2 was another one that you can go into expecting flashy CGI, no story and the occasional bouncing titty (which, as it turns out weren't so occasional after all)....and absolutely nothing more.

Public enemies was approached with actual expectations. It even got a halfway decent rottentomatoes and imdb rating.

TRANSFORMERS 2 was an astounding example of how filmaking by committee doesn't work. I did have a good laugh when LeBeef's hand suddenly materialized a cast.

PUBLIC ENEMIES started strong enough but went nowhere, which was disappointing considering the source material.

Watched SUPERMAN 2 the other night. This flic aged well enough... the fight scenes between Supers and Zod & co are surprisingly viscious.

On the classics front, saw THE BIG RED ONE the other night... it's an old WW2 film starring Lee Marvin, about a squad that basically fights its way across Europe. The characters are archetypical but the action scenes are well done and Marvin is so watchable i forgave them the utterly contrived scene where the squad delivers a french baby in a blown out german tank under a massive cross... i cannot begin to describe how ludicrous this scene is, but as a piece of film history about a point of view at a point in time its a fun watch.

NINE... mildly pretty to look at is about all i can say positive about this.

- Abyss, ...needs to start looking into what Oscar films i haven't seen. The list is long this year.

You say 'viscious' but do you mean vicious as in savage or viscous as in sticky? Because I've seen some examples of the latter and they are NOT GOOD THINGS.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Wasn't young Skywalker in this film, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was a one trick pony ?
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.

@MS Pretty much, yeah.

Watched Idiocracy a couple weeks ago too, still hilarious.

"Go away, batin!"

Rented District 9 and new Terminator today, hoping 9 lives up to the expectations and Terminator isnt as bad as most on here said.

Do not approach terminator expecting to be "gripped", "moved", "enthralled"

Approach more with a "me want splodey and big robots" attitude and you will be 100% satisfied. I was.

I very much enjoyed D9. It had lame bits like any other movie, but generally well done. Plus some mech suit fighting for the robot nerds among us (me).

Yes, I know it's been done to death but I came late to the party. Watched Dances With Wolves In Space 3D and had to admit to be slightly underwhelmed. I am pretty sure it wasn't the weight of expectation. What ruined it for me was the seeming lack of originality in the Na'Vi culture that was basically a mix of central and north american indian cultures. I guess this is where too much knowledge bites you in the ass because if I knew nothing of these cultures I would probably have loved it. Just too many echoes of Dances with Wolves and Pocahontas (I am sure Captain Smith stood in front of a spirt tree and said "I'm talking to a tree.")

No matter, I saw Gone Baby Gone again recently and remembered how good it was.
Victory is mine!

I thought Marillon Cotillard's performance in Public Enemies was excellent, but the rest of it bored me to tears. And Bale's accent sounded incredibly fake, which surprised me.
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Has anyone seen Law Abiding Citizen? It's an interesting concept, but the trailer makes it look like another dumb action flick.

Please tell me I'm wrong.

It just seems to me like someone wanted to make The Punisher but couldn't get the rights. Haven't seen it though.

Dunno, I know very little of those cultures and I thought it was rubbish.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

You're wrong.

I mean it is an action flick, but its better than that. Gerrard Butler is awesome in it. I'm buying the dvd as soon as it comes out.

Law Abiding Citizen had lots of cool explosions and the combo of Gerard Butler and Jaime Fox wasn't half bad.
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

Just watched Up.

Great movie. Very funny, and just well done. Pixar is a machine.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Saw Burn After reading. Horribly disappointed. It lacked an focus, drive, or reason for being. I wanted it to be good too.
