Gangs of New York is one of the best movies ever.

Daniel Day Lewis is The Man.

RLY - now you just need to rent The Boxer and There will be Blood and your Daniel Day-Lewis lovefest will be complete.

I watched Cadillac Records - gotta love leaked screener season - it was OK, but I was hoping for something a bit more than a (basically) Muddy Waters biopic...not bad, but I'm a big blues fan, so that may have helped matters for me.

Mos Def did an alright job acting as Chuck Berry; Beyonce was nice as Etta James, the gal can sing. Howlin Wolf was pretty cool, too. Adrien Brody is Adrien Brody, can't say as I've ever been much of a fan...

So it's a pretty good flick if you like American blues music, but it's nothing groundbreaking....good music and performances flesh out a lackluster script.

There's nothing wrong with a little Daniel Day Lewis love. He is, aafter all, the greatest actor of our time. Yeah, I said it. Want to fight about it?

No, no. No e-fights here.

Daniel Day Lewis is one hell of an actor. Too bad he stars in so few films, though.

Has anyone seen the remake of "The day the Earth stood still" yet? So far I've only heard nothing good about the movie, but somehow I'm intrigued. Don't know exactly why, maybe because of its odd style or something.

So, is it worth watching? And if it isn't: Why?

Apparently Scientific American's film critic Michael Shermer likes the movie (or is very neutral about it, but he makes compliments far more than criticism). His review (here) explains why.

edit: (since it would be a double post)

I just checked on IMDB

-Demolition Man is rated 6.2 out of 10
-Twilight is rated 5.9 out of 10

I'm trying to watch The Big Lebowski. I know everyone loves it, but as with all other Coen brothers movies, I find myself really irritated. I can't cope with idiocy. Why can't people just get shit done? This is why I can't watch Mr Bean without getting irrate!

Who cares how long it is if it's so good? And it is that good too.

Films can be too long, Gangs of New York was a bit too long, so was Dark Knight. Also Leonardo DiCaprio makes me rage when ever I watch a film with him. It's not like he's not a good actor... he just pisses me off. I think it may be post traumatic stress from watching Titanic.

That scene where Daniel Day Lewis character supposedly carves up DiCaprios face to make an example out of him ruined it for me. He gave him a fucking scar on the cheek! That was it!?!!? Fucking Holywood and their refusal to have their chickmagnet actors look messed up. Bah.

I loved Redbelt. One of the best martialarts films I've ever seen... all though it should probably be called Martialarts drama.

Redbelt is one of the worst movies ever made. Even judging on the basis of kung-fu movies from the 1970s, it's awful.

Chiwetal Eijofor's performance as the main character, despite the blizzard of nonsense and pathos, is the film's sole redeeming feature.

I saw Tropic Thunder, which was relatively funny, but honestly Tom Cruise, Downey and Alpa Chino were the best things about that movie.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was surprisingly good. Because of the way the story is structured, Mila Kunis comes off as one of the hottest women in a film that I've ever seen. Her character has surprising depth and intelligence. I highly recommend this movie.

I just watched the new remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still."

Not a good film but not terrible either. The worst part, by far, was the annoying child character. Fucker ruined the whole movie for me.

I agree, terrible terrible character.
Graveyard scene was one of the worst i have ever seen.

The movie failed to reach its potential though.

An interesting review of Frank Millers THE SPIRIT.
Apparently worse that Battle Star Galactica...now that would be something.

I have never wanted to see a film more than I want to see the spirit after reading that article. Well, maybe with the exception of X-men 3, Terminator 3 and Spiderman 3 who are three films we do not speak of and try to pretend never happened.

Also, I remember kinda enjoying Battlefield Earth, I need to go rewatch that film.

I actually liked the Battlestar Galactica movie, if the one we are taking about is the 1977 one or whatever. The movie serves as the first 3 episodes for the 1978 series, which I have been rewatching as they are all free on some website.
