I don't know if this is a spoiler or no but:

Spoiler

I really liked the movie. Very well directed and the acting is tits.

Yeah, there's a lot of hate for this flick, but I saw it two years ago at the Toronto Film Fest, and it was introduced by Aronofsky himself.

I actually enjoyed it a lot. For me it ended up being a long, non-linear story about "love", and that's it. It's not trying to be anything else. Not in my mind. It's about a man who can't let go, because he loves his wife/queen so much. In the end it is about rebirth of the soul. It is in my mind, the tree of life as a film. The film has the cyclical nature of the tree itself.

So yeah, I told everyone who was going to watch it that it is just a very simple love story, told in a strange way.

Thats exactly how I felt about it.

And it still has one of my favorite parts in a movie:

Still sends shivers up my spine.

Just finished the futurama movie. I liked it. If you're into the show, make sure you watch it.

Has anybody seen "fracture"?

I hadn't even heard about it, and it didn't get the best reviews ever, but it was fairly good. Had some good and very unexpected developments near the end too that kind of set it apart from your usual Perry Mason-esque good, guy wins courtroom drama movie. Plus it's got the blondie from the bond movie "die another day" for eye candy.

Basic plot setup (and it doesn't spoil anything since you know exactly what happened with the shooting at the 5 minute mark.

Anthony hopkins plays some mega smart guy who shoots his cheating wife in the face and arranges it so that it looks like a hostage situation. He knows that the hostage negotiator is the guy banging his wife, so when that guy comes in, he confesses and gets arrested

At that point you know it's going to be Anthony hopkins outsmarting the legal system, but the way that the writers went about it is pretty original. They keep leading you along so that you think you know exactly what's going to happen and then turn it around into something better.

Anyways. It's a good, straightforward light-drama one to watch with a GF/mom and it'll keep you entertained even though the characters aren't anything too special. I'd give it a 7/10

I saw it in theaters. The girlyfriend wanted to watch some mystery flicks with me since I like me my mystery flicks and novels so much.

We watched Fracture and Slueth together, made for an enjoyable evening.

Yeah I saw Fracture I thought it was very cleverly devised.

Saw "Wanted" today. It was awesome. Sure, the acting and plot weren't brilliant but I loved it all the same. Loads of cool fights, gory bits and special effects. Completely far fetched, naturally, but I still really enjoyed it. :p

Lately I have seen two different martial arts movies and I am becoming a bit disillusioned with the whole genre. Or maybe these two movies are just bad examples of what is normally a good fun bunch of films to watch.

minor spoilers for fearless and curse of the golden flower
Spoiler

I would put spoilers over the above, but seen as there is nothing to spoil, there is no point. :D

I'd say your problem is that Curse of the golden flower isn't really a martial arts film, it's a film set in china which just happens to contain some form of martial arts, unlike Hero and House of Flying Daggers which both were more about the martial arts (Hero more so than House of Flying Daggers). Fearless on the other hand is a martial arts film, though definitely a more arty one, it sounds like you've been watching the recent spate of modern, arty martial arts films, which concentrate much more on the cinematography, if you want to watch the more brutal sort of martial art films you'll have to go looking as from my experience the arty films seem to have much more of a media presence, try something like ong bak which is pretty damn brutal, and widely available.

Yeah I have Ong Bak, with the Warrior King on the way. I love Tony Jaa!! I guess I was more disappointed with Fearless because I like a lot of other Jet Li films.

And thanks for adding the spoilers for me, even though it ruined my final sentence. :D

The futurama movie has a bonus feature, where they created a new episode by taking the cut scenes from the futuram video game and putting them all together. Odd.

Just so everyone knows the Tony Ja movies (Onk bak ect) have great fighting scenes, they have absolute terrible acting, and terrible story lines.

yucky....

Though I'm all for someone spending 10-15 minutes breaking like a million arms.

Just watched Hellboy. I wasn't sure what to expect, as i havenever read the comics and a lot of superhero movies suck. This was an exception. Very good, I liked it a lot, and now pumped for the sequel coming out. He was very Wolverineish though, but whatever. Good stuff.

Well like I said, who watches a kung fu movie for the acting and plot? I want to see one guy kill a million guys using only his fists! I don't want a deep and meaningful plot and good character development!

I understand that action trumps quality story, but you have to draw the line somewhere....

There needs to be at least an attempt at acting, and plotting...

and from what I understand from his last movie I watched, Aussie land is actually populated 90% by Asians...

They travelled to Australia and every one was still Asian, except maybe one person.

Not sure if this is true or not, but I wouldn’t have guessed it.

Unless he just happened to find a massive evil Asian commune somewhere in Australia...
