I saw Man On Fire last night. I'd heard it was cliched rubbish. And it pretty much is. EXCEPT! It's like a modern day Commando with less henchmen and the kid's called Piter instead of Chenney. Basically, this is how it goes:
Man loses hope
Man hits bottle
Man gets forced into a situation for money
Man finds cute kid
Cute kid wins man over
Cute kid dies
Man goes on rampage
(thanks Hedge!)
Sometimes, when you've done a hard days work and your brain is tired, that's all you need from a movie! And there's a great quote from Christopher Walken's character:
"Some men are artists. Creasy's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece"
Man loses hope
Man hits bottle
Man gets forced into a situation for money
Man finds cute kid
Cute kid wins man over
Cute kid dies
Man goes on rampage
(thanks Hedge!)

You forgot the part about "cute kid not really dead, ending upbeat."

OK, a more apt appraisal would be:
Man hits bottle
Man takes job for money
Man meets cute kid
Cute kid wins man over
Man gives up booze and learns to live again
Cute kid gets kidnapped
Man think cute kid dead
Man goes on rampage
Man puts explosives up hairy mans ass
Cute kid found alive
Man happy
The end.
The only thing that's really missing is: Man f*cks cute kids hot mum

Man gives up booze and learns to live again

How could anyone forget that. Best 80's action-style death ever.

Saw The Edukators this weekend. Slow, but good...
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Saw Broken Flowers.
I want those six hours of my life back.
- Abyss, would have fallen asleep except was on a serious caffeine/chocolate bender at the time.

Has anyone seen and thought Adaptation was a good movie?

I don't think it's must-see material, but I enjoyed it. Being John Malkovich is better because Kaufman isn't as self-conscious in his absurdity, whereas in Adaptation he kind of keeps pointing it out, like you're too dumb to get it...

I think Kaufman's best script is still "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". For once, the emotional stakes are high and believable. And for once, Jim Carrey wasn't a total ham or a cartoon, he was a genuine human character. Still one of my favorite films of last year.

Oh yeah, Eternal Sunshine is probably his best so far. Forgot about that. Cheers Dagger!

Saw The Machinist last night. It's pretty darn good although a little slow (which its probably meant to be but hey ho). Christian Bale has such a lovely voice, I'd like him to read me bedtime stories ... but looking more like Batman than the guy in this film!

Just saw 40-Year-Old Virgin. Slow start but once it got going I laughed my buns off.

I saw the Island too, t'other week. Thought it was mediocre, loads of big flashy explosions and all the effects, but the script, storyline and acting were nothing to comment on.

Saw "40-Year-Old Virgin." I figured it was going to be utter cack but it was hilarious!
Also saw "Mangal Pandey," an Indian movie about what led up to the 1857 Mutiny (India's first war for independence from Britain). Quite good, and Rani Mukherjee is HOT!!!!
