They're making a sequel starring Paris Hilton. Really.

Saw _The Village_. Stay away from _The Village_. Posted Image

I heard that Paris rumour. Bets it goes straight-to-video like every other film she's done, porn or otherwise.

Too bad about The Village, but i've liked his other movies, even Signs and Unbreakable that were fairly widely panned, so I'll probably give it a shot, 1/2 price matinée style.

Aliens v. Predator... look, if anyone attempts to take this flic seriously, they are doing themselves a disservice. It is what it is, cheezy sf, with hopefull decent effects, working off of some great and some not-so-great movies. I'll see it in the first week bcs it don't expect it to last more than three.

- Abyss, owns the first AvP comic LS. Oh. Was that out loud?

Just saw "Shrek 2." Pretty damn funny but not as much as the first. Puss in Boots was the best. Posted Image

Hellboy is a bunch of special effect reels that someone put together and called a movie. The story sucks and anyone who reads a comic about Nazis with goofy helmets should be mopping the floor at McDonalds.

Perlman's other movie City of Lost Children sucks too. I thought Tim Burton had a monopoly on weird movies with crappy story telling. Then I find out that people are making weirder and crappier stuff. Burton should have stopped after the Pee Wee movie. It's the best thing he ever did. One last thing: y'all are stupid.

By any chance, do you wear footsie pajamas and have illustrated bed sheets?

Anyway, I'll stick with stupid stoner comedies like Harold and Kumar.

Whatever. You are supposed to have a higher suspension of disbelief for comic based superhero movies, because most comic superheros have origins in comics designed for boys under the age of 13.

For example, when a superhero catches a victim who falls off a building the impact of the catch would probably kill the person. However, most people ignore that.

Anyways, the biggest problem with Spiderman is that it is based on a comic superhero which is chock full of hokey cliches and the limitations of that stupid comic book code. Spiderman is cheesier than most and less fun because Peter Parker is such a dufus.

If they lost every superhero film other than Blade and the first Superman, it would be no great loss. The next time they make a superhero movie, they should start from scratch.

Its because the movies audience would be too stupid to understand any kind of explaination which wasnt lame Posted Image

@Cyandor and Iron Bars: Thanks!

Cyandor, I guess I can see why some people like Hellsing, but the flat characters and silly plot (the Vatican?...come on) just didn't work for me. Then again, sometimes that kind of thing does. For some reason I love the Fist of the North Star movie.

Another, 2 animes I really really didn't like were the Magical Shopping Arcade series and hack//sign. Magical Shopping Arcade (dubbed) just was not funny, and hack//sign was too slow, cliched, predictable, poorly developed... (The premise of hack//sign is similar to Tad William's Otherworld series but the story itself is not anywhere near as interesting nor as well done.)

I really liked the first episode of Full Metal Panic. No idea what's going on yet, but good characters.

GTO, Kino's Journey, Black Jack and Boogiepop Phantom were all pretty cool but not enough for me to continue watching. Kino's Journey seemed more for moody brooding female girls and Boogiepop is similar to Lain but doesn't have the same appeal for me. It is so different from anything else that I would say it is a must see. GTO (former gang member becomes sex crazed teacher) and Blackjack (thriller about a renogade docter) were near misses for me...

Finally, Cyandor: Where do you live? I rent most of my anime from on line places...Most video stores are sparse on what they carry and I could spend a grip of money to see it all. Here in the States (and Canada) Greencine has the best on line collection of anime...

The Batman cartoon was one of the best cartoons on TV. I still haven't seen the movie they made based on it but I remember it getting great reviews.

As for it being short on substance I didn't mind. I was a kid when it first came out and I didn't really care much for substance. Even by today's standards I still like it. It will be interesting to see what the new Batman movie will be like. I think the new Batmobile looks ridiculous, though.

Watched Hide & Seek. Alright movie.

But mark my words, Dakota Fanning is going to be a great actress some day.

Saw Farenheit 9/11 last night - interesting, but a feel of rehashed information - maybe because a great deal of the information was already in the public domain.

Made me think a little; but my girlfriend who had not seen the information before was a lot more struck by it.

I still have a number of reservations about MM as a documentary maker, but as a propagandist he is pretty effective. (And no I am not a Conservativ or GOP supporter)

Just saw The Butterfly Effect and like Loose it reminded me of Donnie Darko. Terrific acting (yes Kutcher is amazing and even the children were believable unlike the line-reading of most child actors) and terrific story. Not sure (yet) which one I like more but surely urge everyone to see either one of them. This is one of the best Posted Image films of (this side of) 2004.

Also saw Spidey 2 yesterday, which was cool and everything you could expect from it. If you liked no.1 go see it, if not don't.

Dark Daze, Dark Daze, Dark Daze... Anyone with any sense knows that Young Frankenstein is hands down the best Brooks movie ever made, and probably the greatest comedy. Posted Image
