We watched War of the Rohirrim yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed it! It has a light touch with its references to LOTR and it's an enjoyable original story.
Animation is largely very pretty with some weird decisions/phoned in bits that are a little jarring on occasion.
Liberal use of the Rohan theme from LOTR and I LOVED that
Finally got around to watching this, and I agree. I admit I was expecting it to be not that good, but it was really enjoyable...and the light touches to LOTR were minor enough to not feel stapled onto it. It definitely feels like its own thing in the Tolkien world, and that felt right.
The animation was better than it seemed in the trailers. Music is incredible! I'll buy this on BluRay and let it sit beside the other two box sets I have of the Jackson LOTR/Hobbit stuff.
If you're looking for a really fun, if occasionally predictable romp in middle earth, this is no slouch.

I also watched CONLCAVE which was excellent. I have absolutely no interest in religion, the pope, or even the Conclave...but this was an exceptionally well made film with a wonderful score, cinematography, and acting and is tense throughout, and directed with aplomb. Just really worth the nomination for Best Picture. It kept me entertained throughout.
And lastly I watched SECTION 31...the Michelle Yeoh-starring, TV show turned into a Star Trek movie about Phillipa Georgiou (former Emperor of the Terran Empire from the Mirror Universe; and standout star of DISCO S1-4) and it was bad. Like it never ever resembles a Trek project in any way...nothing about it FEELS like Trek...and what's worse is that it fails as a movie even ignoring that it's a Trek movie...it's not even a good action movie. Yeoh does her best with what's offered to her for script choices, but everyone else is BEYOND forgettable...including an out-of-nowhere-and-pointless cameo by Jamie Lee Curtis...just a waste of 1.5hours, even one a plane to kill time. Do not bother.
