Yeah, I saw that trailer before. The dialogue still seems to be record levels of truly awful, but the action seems really quite good, enough that I'm interested in seeing it, which wasn't the case after the first trailer which was shocking.

I watched Ocean's 8 with the SO last night and really enjoyed it. I don't understand all the complaints. It's not as good as Oceans 11, but certainly better than 12 and 13.

They've been running ads on YouTube for the past month or so. Her face really freaks me out, it goes from sorta normal, to very not normal. Anime was not meant for the real world.

The uncanny valley effect is off the charts.

In EVERYTHING. I've never seen him in a movie where I didn't think he was utterly stellar.

The Unforgiven remake in 2013 with Samurai with him is especially good (if you've not seen it yet).

Oh really? I saw it as the film fest, but I thought it was widely available here...hmmm...well if you ever get a chance to see it, do so. It's very good.

Sidebar: Watanabe was there at my screening, and is about the humblest guy I've ever seen do a Q&A short of Mads Mikkelsen (who is also humble as hell).

Love Godzilla's upgraded dorsal spikes and speed. Mothra looks cool, with echoes of the Mutos. Rodan looks awesome too, but fuck, Ghidora is goddamn huge!

Is terminal the film about the guy stuck in an airport, because his country ceased to exist because of civil war or something like that? I think it's a Tom Hanks film?

Agreed. I grew up watching the originals (even though they were largely made years before I was born) on TV, and so this looks like it's going to be EXACTLY what it needs to be to satiate that nostalgia, while upping the ante. I love that they went all-in on the "Let the giant monsters fight" motif, and didn't try to fancy it up with any other "serious" plot lines.
