This is a hellworld.

That right there, I'm thinking we move that up from a rape scene in a movie to just straight up rape!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Just watched:
Dirty Grandpa
War dogs

Dirty Grandpa should not be entertaining. but I laughed a lot at it.

War dogs was good, but I prefer Lord of War

War of Dog Lords?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Is it one of the movies with penetration?

In the contract I meant.

Not relevant, I'm afraid. Since you couldn't read the whole article, I'll summarize (though the details are awful, be forewarned): The scene wasn't in the script at all. Brando and Bertolucci devised it themselves on the fly, and sprung it on her right before (and essentially during) filming it, for the purpose of capturing on film her genuine reaction to being raped.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Yah, Brando doing it (age 48) to Schneider (age 19). I don't really wanna describe the scene, sorry. It shouldn't be hard to seek out another article about it w/o the ads.

Also please stop using the word "penetration" (like in general, and I ask that of everyone everywhere aside from very specific academic or investigational contexts).

That makes sense, but Brando & Schneider are both long dead.

And I'm just learning that word bothers me in the same way "moist" bothers a lot of people. Posted Image

I think it's silly to ask him to not use a word with such a specific legal definition. It's jargon; not derogatory slang. And it's perfectly applicable in many circumstances, language policing aside.

*Whisperzzzz, moistening his lips with chapstick, gives Worry/death rattle a penetrating glare*

Thought I made it clear it wasn't word-policing, I just personally have a nails-on-chalkboard reaction to it! Wasn't a serious request.

Speaking of moist... butter?

I mean, for what he was doing and where I can't imagine it was the best choice.
Maybe it was spreadable.

I haven't seen that scene for years but I can't quite believe they 'sprung it on her' and she just went with it because a camera was on her.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Dude, you realize you're doing the equivalent of the "If she didn't want to get raped she shouldn't have gone on a date with him" accusation right now, right? She's an actress. She showed up to work to film a scene in a hotel room. Of course there's going to be cameras.

Might as well ask why she didn't just keep her knees together.

Both the actress and the director both mention it in worry's article.

That's not what I meant Apt. I was just thinking that in a closed environment like a film set, if the actors/director start doing something that is unscripted and as they say, unforwarned, whatever it is, the only person not in on the change might say 'wait, what?' There were other people present as well presumably.

From the interviews it looks like it went down that way though, which is.. horrendous. Looks like they relied on her being young and in a position where it would be unlikely that she would speak out about it.

Definitely, the problem lies in the situation. How was she to say no? These are two powerful and important film icons she's working with. What would happen if she refused? Would they do it anyway? Would she had been fired or blacklisted? Etc.

It's just an all around shitty situation. I understand the artistic and provocative aspect of film making but this story makes me want to kick Bertolucci in the balls.

Well, I suppose the danger of being provocative is that in trying to do so you can very easily descend into some truly heinous territory. Subordinating a woman's safety and emotional wellbeing for the sake of a film? Absolutely disgusting, as well as the fact he was relatively comfortable with her hating him the rest of her life because of it.

Being the 70s however, I don't think that it would have seemed that huge a deal to both men involved, thus the shitty situation. Remember, this was only 8 years prior:

I wonder if there are any instances where the shoe has been on the other foot. That is, where a rape scene of a male actor has been orchestrated by a male director so that it feels 'real'. Somehow I doubt it.

An all around disgusting situation.

Art does not mean a thing if you defile somebody's basic physical and sexual autonomy doing it.

IMO it was most definitely rape. The sheer power differential in the scenario blurs the line of consent totally.

A dog licking it's balls in front of a freshly painted wall for two hours would be superior to the last one

Transformers The Last Knight looks really cool. My phone is acting up so no trailer link. Looks superior from that last one.

You're not wrong, it actually looks pretty cool.
