Stupid Les Mis... Making me cry like that at the end... Now I need to go & punch a tree or hit rocks with an axe at the top of a mountain, shirtless, while some dude wails an epic guitar solo. Got to regain my man points somehow!

Seriously though, good film!

that was me...man I mostly held it together during I DREAMED A DREAM...but the ending, when Fantine tells him to lay his burden down ect....oh sweet hell my shoulders started to go and the tears started to flow. I was sobbing.

Gods, what a wonderful film.

Anne Hathaway was on The Daily Show and talked about the ending bit and how she had to go under the camera to magically reappear on Hugh Jackman's other side. Apparently she thought hunching over and stutter-stepping would be too distracting for Hugh, so on one take she tried diving under the camera. It didn't go well. LOL.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Hey guys. I really want to go see Les Miserables but I am conscientious and don't want to be embarrassed by my poor pronunciation of the title of the film when I order tickets at the box office. I've been practicing - Lay Mizz-errr-rob-bluh - but I just feel I do not have it correct. How did you all ask for tickets? Did you pronounce the full name? Or go the "Two tickets for Le Miz" approach? I don't want to go the "Le Miz" route because then I will be seen as an unsophisticated rube by the person working the box office and more importantly, my date. #sadface #wantyouradvice

I was thinking of that very same conundrum this morning, and concluded I will just go the Le Miz route when I get around to it. Depending where you are you could probably get away with "Lay Mizz-err-rahbb" and skip the final "les" all together.

Get your date to do it. Classy~

Or ww's attempt with a soft 'bluh' on the end. Actually, just say 'Les Miserables' as spelt with as a straight face as possible. Yes, Lez Miz-rabels.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Just buy your tickets online and pick them up at the kiosk in the theatre. That way you won't have to talk to a real person, who in all likelihood is just some high school student who doesn't know how to pronounce it either.

But seriously, if they made more movies as good as Les Miserables, I would go to movies more often. It was a great experience and well worth the price of admission.

You must go to the movies pretty often anyway then... :(

Nah. Maybe 1 or 2 times a year at most, if you call that "pretty often". Ever since I paid $14 to see Gladiator years ago and I realized that the movie cost more than dinner did that night, I decided I preferred other modes of entertainment. But if I'll still see relatively current movies via downloading or if I go to someone's house or I'm on an airplane. Seen a lot of movies I'm glad I did not pay money for.

Maybe you just have shitty taste in picking movies to go to the theater for. Explains this a bit better than "there are very few movies of the quality of Les Miserables".

If you like musicals, dig up a subtitled edition of the Hindi movie, Dil Se. It blows Les Miz out of the water.

I watched Mama, and gotta say, it was pretty awesome. Some of the "detective work" elements are hokey (though I'm using that term broadly, there aren't actually any detectives, but some characters piece things out on their own) and it didn't stray from the usual score for these kinds of things, so you gotta roll with the punches there. But other than that it's a surprisingly solid scarefest. Good performances (including the children, which was a must), solid premise, genuinely scary moments throughout with a real sense of risk, plus an antagonist that stays scary even after the reveal. Very pleasant surprise. If you liked The Ring, warts and all, I'd say this ranks right up alongside it.

Re-watched AIR FORCE ONE on BluRay. Damn that movie still holds up as excellent! One of the last films of the 90's that rocked really hard!

Yeah. I was pretty much on board with any movie starring Han Solo, pre 2000. Although, the same could be said of Kevin Costner movies, pre Waterworld, and even Mel Gibson movies, up to, and including, Braveheart.

Finally saw LINCOLN this afternoon. A very slow first 45 minutes in which I nearly dozed off (the early politicking was coma-inducing at first), but after that first section it picked right up (once they'd established that they needed to push the 13th through before letting the war end and realized they needed to garner votes) and I quite enjoyed the rest of the film immensely!

Daniel Day Lewis was a revelation. One of his finest roles and he delivered it perfectly.

However, I will wholeheartedly echo the sentiment put forth already that it runs 3-5 minutes too long...and what could have been an absolutely poetic ending (and probably the most iconic shot in the film)...

Spoiler

...ends up following into the wholly unnecessary bits about the theatre and his death and flashing back to his speech...

I swear Spielberg should be reprimanded for not ending it on the stairs shot. That would have been added to a short list of truly iconic film-industry final shots that fade to black...marred by his indulgence.

The Life of Pi was magnificent. I haven't seen all the Oscar movies, but it is better done than Lincoln at least. Probably Ang Lee's best movie too.

Honest Trailers did up KINGDOM Of THE CRYSTAL SKULL...and aside from mentioning the over-the-top punching sound (which is in all the films), everything else in it is spot friggin on...up to and including the repetition of iconic shots from the previous installments (this is a piss off I hadn't even realized was there... except the hat down for napping shot)

Enjoy!

Slow Ben's formatting. 4/10

I actually enjoyed Men in Black 3 very much. I thought it was going to be utter crap but it wasn't too bad. Probably due to Jemain.

Lawless did suck though.

I will bump your score to 5/10 cause you put in effort.

Wow. I actually took time to make it readable. Why does it do that when I type on my iPad? Weird.
