Those are chunk heel boots, which are not wedges. The male lead appears to be wearing military boot heels as well, so where's his flat shoe coming from?

Just got the tie-in MMPR Monopoly set and the three dudes all have pieces but then there's just a yellow high heel shoe and a pink clothing iron.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Yeah, my first reaction was to the heels too. What is wrong with design teams that make them unable to make action outfits for women without adding high heels?

I don't have an answer for you. I'm just gonna go with Hollywood?

Do you realize how stacked a woman would have to be to require form fitting boob armor that large? It would probably hamper her unarmed combat skill development to the degree that she'd give it up entirely.

You're aware that this is an actual shot of the actors in their costumes yes? Aside from the fact that they are standing on worn, wooden stage-blocks...you can see the creases in the bodysuit portions between the armor plates (mostly on Red at the knee)...so those are quite likely the actresses actual breasts (or close to them with a sports bra of some sort, and however thick the armor is).

EDIT: That said, I can't fathom them fighting comfortably in it...

Hollywood is Hollywood.

Those are heavily padded.

For example, take a look at Gal Gadot in a bikini. Then take a look at her on the promo shot for her Wonder Woman movie. Her costume has boob armor heavily padded out. It's a thing and the Power Ranger women have that plus the heels. At least in BvS, Gadot had footwear that could be moved in.

Yeah, this is probably true, and I'm not defending the choice to make the armor cover their boobs or explain the wedges, just that it COULD have in-story reasons since the production team said the tech forms over their bodies. No doubt it's all been exacerbated.

Besides, if the armour was really supposed to just be form-fitting alien nano-goo* over their bodies, none of the guys' armour would look like that, either. Male pectorals do not have the shape of a perfectly smooth trapezoid jutting two inches forward from the rest of the chest. :p

*wait, are we sure this is supposed to be Power Rangers, and not Guyver?!

I think they REALLY did take some cues from Guyver for this update.

And to be fair, what's covering the women's breasts seems to be the bodysuit part of the material, and the guys just have chestplates over the same area instead. At least that's how it seems from a design POV.

I'm not saying this explains anything mind you. And I keep coming back to "Hollywood" as a reason behind it.

I just googled Guyver and you just solved a mystery for me, D'rek.

For years I've tried to find out what this film was called. All I could recall was some guy who had an alien armor that could retract into two holes in his neck.

Turns out it was called Mutronics here in Europe.

Damn I am happy I finally figured this out. Now of course I realize that the awesome sci-fi mutant alien kung fu film I remember was actually a low budget crappy PG 13 B film but, eh, I still have the memories.

EDIT: Watching the directors cut on Youtube now. It has Mark Hamil in it. He's playing a CIA agent with an awesome mustache.

Wow, Red Ranger looks so much like Lord Zedd.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Zedd's dead, baby. Zedd's dead.

Anyway, I didn't grow up with Power Rangers at all so I haven't got much interest in this, but I bet it isn't as intense as the bootleg universe version.

If we ignore the fact that the Guyver film is spectacularly awful in pretty much every aspect, it wasn't half bad.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Yea that's the gritty one I mentioned. It has a thread here cause it was so balling.

The Bootleg Universe is awesome in general. Truth in Journalism and Dirty Laundry are, if anything, even better than Power/Rangers.

Glad I could help! I didn't even know there was a western live-action movie version of Guyver!

Wikipedia says there's even a direct-to-video R-rated sequel to the live-action movie that was better than the first (but probably still a B-movie) so if you haven't seen that maybe you should try to find it and watch it for nostalgia's sake!
