My taste in epic inspirational speeches tends more towards this or this or this though I don't watch enough sports films and I'm sure I'd have a few more 'real life' ones if I did.

I'm glad to hear that. I've seen a couple previews for this and am quite intrigued by it. Don't know that I'll see it in the theater, though; I very rarely do anymore. It's usually got to be a home run for the whole family. Like the upcoming Jurassic World and Star Wars Ep 7. But I'm very interested in Ex Machina and am glad to hear someone say they think its intelligent and thought provoking.

This week I've watched Project Almanac and Infini. Both good movies.

Project Almanac is one of those footage found esque movies where a group of friends find something extraordinary and then continues to stick their noses where they really shouldn't. In this case, they find the blueprints for a time machine in the main guys basement. A time machine his dad built. They then proceed to build it, which is actually a great sequence, well done, if a bit incredible that high school students can do something like that. In any case, they build it and use it to experiment and ultimately to make their lives better. But as with all time travel movies this has consequences which they can not predict. It follows the theory that the further back you go, the greater and more unpredictable the consequences it will have. Obviously the shit hits the fan.

The movie has a slow build, which is great, it doesn't just jump right into it. This gives the impression that the movie is more about the discovery and the process of time travel, with the slow descent into the shit that they just don't notice because it's incremental. It portrays the idea that if you change something and fuck it up, then going back and changing it back will just risk fucking it up even more rather nicely I think.

The acting is so-so, not bad, but not really great either. It's adequate and somewhat what you'd expect from a movie like this. I recommend you try this movie out.

Infini. This movie, also a scifi movie, is crazy, at times a bit incoherent, and it'll probably leave you a bit confused, I know I am, just a little. But the build of the movie, the pacing, was actually rather well done, with a decent story and decent actors.

It is about a team that gets sent to the furthest outpost in our galaxy to rescue the main guy, a lost technician. They also have to do some other stuff. This combined with the means of travel, which I won't reveal here, tells you just how fucked up this place, Infini, is.

I can't really go into too many details, because that'll reveal too much of the movie I think, so I'll just leave it as a movie I recommend you see.

Watched Ex Machina last night. I really dug it, and found it pretty trippy and well-paced.

So I watched Edge of Tomorrow last night...

It was really good. I thought the premise might get old but it didn't. This was fun from start to finish. The invasion was great.

I think the ending was a bit strange. Felt like the story could have gone on from there but can't really discuss that without spoilers. lets just say the movie was great, and ended at a point that hangs with you, the mark of excellent scripting IMO. Tom Cruise was quite likeable, the better aspects of his acting talent shining through and his partnership with Emily Blunt was very convincing. Both looked immersed in their roles and That really carried the scenes from reset to reset. I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't watched it yet.

Agreed, this is one of the few of his post-2000 movies that didn't make me want to murder him and nail his testicles to a Rutland tree!

I loved Pandorum does that mean I'll like Infini?

Well, it's not exactly the same movie, but it is the same genre. And Infini, despite being a lowbudget movie, is rather well made I think.

Finally watched Grand Budapest Hotel. Very entertaining, as usual, but ended up on the less emotionally involving end of the Wes Anderson scale. That's okay though, I suppose. Also, I can't help feeling not enough was done with the story-within-a-story-within-a-story conceit, so it was cute rather than vital.
