No duh, to the first thing. But GLEE has no doubt generated much more appeal to a large segment of people who otherwise wouldn't have ever given a shit, and thus Hollywood is now making movies influenced by GLEE that was influenced by contemporary broadway. And I know they made shit tons of money, but so did Transformers 2. And my opinion of all of them is they are absolute crap. I think its cuz they wear microphones while they are on stage. Despite their practicality, it looks stupid, and I don't like it.

I too enjoyed Pitch Perfect a lot more than I ever expected to. Rebel Wilson's sense of humor is right up my alley (and I may be one of the only people in North America for whom Super Fun Night was appointment watching).

Watched a few films recently.

Grand Budapest hotel- Very good film with a good cast. Very funny and enjoyable with Ralph Fiennes owning it.

Lego Movie- I fucking loved this film so much its sooooooo good. Yes im a grown up.

Non stop- I love Liam Neeson and as with Taken, Unknown etc he holds up these ridiculous premises with his performances as a dad in the wrong place at the wrong time. This was quite good and the 9/11 subtext throughout wasnt that heavy handed for most of it. However it wa let down at the end.

300 Rise of an Empire- Meh. Thought it was a bit shit with naked eva green being the only saving grace. The first one was much better.

Just saw Captain America 2. Great film. The highpoint of the entire MCU.
Easily above Avengers and the first Iron Man for me.
This film is actually about something and doesn't entirely feel like souless franchised product!

This seems to be the general opinion of most who have seen it. that it elevates the Marvel Phase films to another level. Looking fwd to it.

I'm just hoping Chris Evans doesn't get sick of the movie business as an actor and quit to be a director or something else. His Snowpiercer work seemed like a welcome slight change of pace for him.

Just watched The Grey expecting it to be really shit and it was actually alright despite being rather cliched. My reason for posting here is that it is basically Liam Neeson does Trull Sengar in MT.

Evans has been making noise about not being an actor for quite a while now. He's gone on press tours where he basically says he's famous for roles in which he does very little actual acting and he doesn't like that.

I know he liked workimg with Danny Boyle and a few of his smaller movies. I was hoping that Snowpiercer, which gives him one big scene to really emote and act, would help things, but it looks like that's getting held up by recuts. I already saw the Korean version and he's very good in it.

Basically, he's not wanting to be the next Bruce Willis. He wants to do stuff like Christian Bale.

Saw NOAH this afternoon. I basically saw it because I was willing to give Darren Aronofsky a shot at telling me a biblical tale.

He does an admirable job, and the film goes for full-on, no holds barred fantasy. Including Fallen Angel Rock Giants, and magical explosive rocks.

It is, however, overlong and a bit overwrought in the execution.

Jennifer Connelly owns the film with a very, very solid performance. Better than Crowe, Watson, and Lerman.

It's not something I'd ever choose to watch again, and is probably the least of his repertoire (I think his crowning achievement is still THE FOUNTAIN)...but I give him credit for getting me as an audience member involved in a tall tale like Noah and the Ark. He doesn't try to explain any of the logical fallacies so much as ignores them entirely as "given". It's interesting to note that no one ever refers to God...they all call the entity the Creator instead.

The first half is VERY fantasy-esque, while the second half is more religious-lesson-ish...up to and including a retelling of Genesis by Noah that skirts the evolution aspect well and then bleeds to white short of showing an ape evolving into man.

So yeah, worth a look, but not a theatre flick. Wait till DVD and then watch it.

Just got home from the theatre. This movie is pretty damn awesome I should say. And I agree, easily the high point so far for the MCU movie industry.

Next up should be Guardians of the Galaxy and I'm really looking forward to that one.

MUPPETS MOST WANTED - I dunno why, but Muppets on screen is never as fun as I think it's going to be. It isn't horrible, but could be so much more.

THE DARK CRYSTAL - barest of bare-bones plots, but the puppets are very imaginative and it's a very immersive experience.
