Caught Fahrenheit 9/11 the other day. Quite good, 8.5/10.

Saw 'Ocean's Twelve' a coupla weeks ago- it was trying too hard, nowhere near as good as the first one ie. the same problem as 'Shrek 2'.

looking forward to seeing 'Alexander'- although none of the swords-and-sandals films have matched 'Gladiator' for me, yet.

Yeah, its all been a bit lean in terms of movies recently. Thats why I've been staying in and getting addicted to 'West Wing'? Where have you been all my life, baby? Posted Image

I caught "Ocean's 12" the other day. Holy crap, was it bad. I really liked the original remake (that sounds dumb, don't it) but this film was a waste of time and money! AVOID!

But the machinist is nothing like fight club except its got this big psycho twist at the end.

And whats wrong with HBC in fight club? She was great!

@Abelyn

spoiler-spoiler-spoiler

I too could not understand gabriel or a few other things for that matter importantly is gabriel not meant to be a man. However I think what she was doing was trying to make humanity face hardship which would make them or at least those deserving turn to god for help and as such be worthy of his love and entry into heaven. maybe you need the comics to really understand

I just saw "King Arthur." It was decent. The historian in me was crying about all the inaccuracies but I actually enjoyed the film more than "Troy." Posted Image

Yes, and they were jumping on trampolines too.

@Nom - City of God - Damn right. One of the best movies I've seen recently.

LOLOLOLOL!!! Well put mappo (is pleased that he saw a first ever mappo rant) Posted Image. Those ppl pee me off too. If you go to one of these summer blockbusters and comic book adaptations you should know what you are going to see/expect. . . one-liners. . . SFX. . . loud music. . . hollywood stars (doesn't mean they are good btw Posted Image). . . etc. etc.

Honestly those are the only reasons I go to the cinema, to see those kind of movies. It's pointless on your TV at home (unless its the whole wall, I mean the whole wall too not some pansy 40 or so inch screen Posted Image). If I wanna watch a movie with good storyline/plot and stuff i'll often rent it so i get to see it again and when I am in the mood for something more "intellectual". Not that all the above mentioned movies in those categories are lame-a$$ acting and storyline and direction wise it's just that that's not why i go to see them.

Also see posters for the upcoming Blade 3: Trinity. Hope they don't really ruin it. But should be pretty hard for em to do that. Kristofferson, Snipes, Vampires, cool weapons, bad-a$$ SFX Posted Image.

Just watched the first part (of three) of the Children of Dune mini-series. Very entertaining and they don't stray from the books compared to most adaptations, better sfx than the Dune mini-series of a few years ago. A must-see for all those who read the Herbert books.

Also watched Pitch Black today, for the first time, and really enjoyed it. I think Vin Diesel was perfect as Riddick. Now purveying the Dark Fury anime and I think I'll go see Chronicles too.

Saw The Last Samurai twice today (once with director's commentary), after seeing it first in the cinema.

I hardly ever watch commentaries, cause usually after about 5 minutes i go: "This director is a complete twerp" or "What on earth is he talking about!? Is he watching the same movie!?"

The commentary of TLS is really good, though as is the movie, especially as it makes the subtext, character development and details obvious enough for the viewer to catch them while not specifically looking out for them.

I especially liked the closing doors in the beginning. And some of the shots were amazing. Like the one very short shot of someone putting down a tea laddle or later when cruise stands in front of the parade ground and the howitzers fire in the background left to right.

And kayuki is one of the most beatiful woman i have ever seen and a good actress to boot.

I saw Robots yesterday. It's pretty good. I'm sure you can imagine what it's like with Robin Williams voicing a character.

Yeah 'Somersault' is the best we've been able to Down Under pretty much since 'Rabbit-Proof Fence'. Interestingly, under proposed new govt. legislation (which has now been shelved), it would never have been made as it depicted under-18s confronting their sexuality...

@Longhorn: Will grab the chance to watch 'Hotel Rwanda' when I can if you recommend it so highly.
