Due to head-fuckery, I've been in pretty much every night for a while. That equates to lots of movie watching.

The Fighter - Christian Bale is just an awesome actor. I quite enjoyed this movie. The hilarity of white-trash of the family was unexpected, but by far the relationship between the family was really well done. The fighting was very much secondary to the film. 8 out of 10.

Buried - Ryan Reynolds basically has to carry this movie on its own. It's frantic pace mixed with pure emotion. I really enjoyed this too, despite how uncomfortable it made me. 8.5 out of 10

500 Days of Summer - Funny and sad, with some bittersweet thrown in, I think this movie does a good job of portraying how we often see things from our own perspective and it blinds us to the reality of our situation. Quite enjoyed Joseph Gordon-Levitt in this. 8 out of 10.

Knight and Day - was actually better than I'd thought it would be, however, that's weighed against me not expecting much. Decent plot, fun action scenes, corny as hell at times, but still entertaining enough for an hour and a half. 6.5 out of 10.

Case 39 - Bridget Jones takes in a foster child. Foster child is pretty much the devil. Suspenseful at times, and a couple really neat scenes featuring the child (who pulled off her role quite well), it was okay for a horror-flick. 5.5 out of 10.

The Social Network - I enjoyed this, but don't really get all the fuss about it. Yes, the dialogue was good and the plot was tight. I'd recommend it, but if it wins Best Picture at the Academy Awards I'd be surprised. 7.0 out of 10.

The A-Team - I fucking loved it. I don't care. It was great, stupid fun. 7.5 out of 10.

Easy A - Was quite let down by this, but probably because it wasn't what I expected. Never really grabbed my attention and the 2D quality of every character was just meh. 4.5 out of 10.

The Other Guys - More stupid fun. Marky Mark was entertaining playing himself (a dumb jock), and Will Ferrell is Will Ferrell. 7.0 out of 10.

The Sorceror's Apprentice - Well... it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, and had a few decent moments and special effects. 4.0 out of 10.

The Expendables - Rambo + The Specialist + A-Team like missions. Not as good as any of its components, but was alright. Plot was pretty bad, but who sees these movies for plot? 5.0 out of 10.

I saw The Social Network at the theater. Writing and acting were great. "Wait, let me check your math...one thousand plus eighteen thousand...yes, nineteen thousand." Brilliant.

I still say Inception is the best movie of 2010.

I saw Battle: Los Angeles and Im pissed off. For me its totally killed movie... First 40 minutes is great, something like Cloverfield but with angry ETs and marines...and after that? Bad version of Independance Day. Stupid false pathos, mediocre and predictable action scenes...dialogues like "Give this letter to my wife!...Boy, you are the bravest marine I ever saw!...We are with you, sgt!"

Damn...leave just 40 minutes and Ill be happy... Rest is badly managed military sci-fi...with terrible dialogues.

Just watched Catfish, a cautionary documentary/ movie based on a true story about a guy from New York who befriends an 8 year old girl (who is a talented artist) on facebook.

It is amusing, tragic and at times uncomfortable to watch, but ultimately strangely satisfying.

It should be required viewing for all facebook addicts and people who live their lives vicariously through the internet.

I haven't seen The Social Network yet, but for a chunk of reality that raises multiple questions about the pitfalls of internet based "social networking", Catfish is definitely worth a watch.

Oh and the irony of this post is not lost on me

I just watched The Social Network last night I thought it was a very good movie though I don't think it's as great as the praise it's been given. Solid movie with great pace and acting but not the best I've seen this year. I still think True Grit and The Fighter are better movies though I need to see The King's Speech and hopefully I'll get to see that this coming weekend.

Eli being 200 years old really, really, really creeped me the fuck out. The Oskar/Hakan cycle has been going on for probably nearly that long and you could tell that Hakan knew he was being replaced. The dressing scene actually gave me shivers because of the repulsiveness of that. Wow. However, the creepiest thing about the whole movie was Oskar himself. The actors were all perfectly cast, but Oskar was so f'ed up that I'm still shivering about his willing acquiescence to all of that. Hoooooolllly shit.

This movie is so creepy that I'm not sure I want to catch the American version - despite it getting rave reviews and blurbs like "the best horror movie of the last twenty years" from Stephen King. I don't know if I can take it again.

Amazing achievement by the filmmakers - making a movie I want to never see again, yet I will certainly not forget anything about it. Wow.

I love this film, defines creepy imo. That scene at the end is just pure awesome.

As to the American version - well, a good Swedish film gets made from a good Swedish book; gets remade in America, and then an American horror writer says it's the 'best horror movie ever.' With no reference to the original.

Well done America for making such an original movie.

I watched Let The Right One In at the weekend and thought it was wonderful. A touching story about two lonely children who become friends. I was very happy for them at the end.

I watched Taxi driver yesterday. Must be 15 years or so since I last saw that film. I'd forgotten just how good Robert De Niro used to be in his youth. The film itself was not as amazing as I remembered it being. But De Niro really owns that film.

There was this scene where Jodi Foster, playing the teenage prostitute Travis wants to save, introduces him to her pimp played by surprisingly muscular Harvey Kitel. The pimp says something stupid to Travis and Travis just stands there looking at him. I can't remember when I last felt a person express such a vibe of restrained violence. De Niro was fucking menacing.

And the ending is of course all kinds of fucked up.

That sucks to hear. I thought it looked good. They were calling it Black Hawk Down with aliens....but it sounds like that's only in the first section. I may wait for BluRay now.
