Learned the Mrs had never seen the 1980 version of Flash Gordon. So I dutifully Netflixed it. I told her at one point during the movie, I bet this is what it's like to drop acid. Just batshit genius

You mean your Mrs did not understand the GLORY and POWER of the BRIAN BLESSED????

nor the awesomeness of the soundtrack??
meh. Link was dead :(

Danny Trejo's Vengeance? That looks like half the Mel Gibson films rolled into one but more epic cos it's Danny Trejo!

Watched The Losers this afternoon. Never read the comic, but I dug the movie. Light-hearted and entertaining. Lots of stuff blowing up. Good times.

Second this. As the start of a summer of soldiers of fortune, it's a good one. Oceans 11 crossed with the A-team... Fantastic cast too. Chris Evans was only the best thing in it by a little bit, which makes something of a change.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Finally got to see Iron Man 2.

Not sure why reviewers over here didn't like it. I thought it was pretty good. I liked Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, he was hilarious laying out all those weapons to Rhodey..."OK this is Belgian, they make stuff other than waffles, but I can see that's not disco enough for you..."

The credit cookie went by too fast. I didn't understand what was found in the desert.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Saw the Losers today, it was fun without being particularly memorable. Chris Evans was OK, Jason Patric chewed scenery really well as one of the most weird, diffident bad guys I've ever seen, but the sniper dude was the coolest, and somehow Zoe Saldana makes both eyebrow piercings and RPGs look HAWT! :)

Loved the "telekinesis" scene though.

I give it 3 stars and like I said it was fun, but somehow it didn't really grab me. There were a few WTF moments - the most memorable of which was when a large explosion went off in a compound, yet on the other side (not too far away, a couple of hundred metres at most) nobody seemed to notice. But oh well ...

I will also say it seems to follow the comic book-movie style pretty well.

Watched Missing in Action 2 yesterday. I'd forgotten just how awesome Chuck Norris could be.

Valhalla Rising. Dark, twisted, beautiful, and violent. One-Eye is badass on an epic scale.

I've been wanting to see that one. It's got a Danish Director and Actor, Winding Refn and Mads Mikkelsen (the guy from Casino Royal and Clash of the Titans) playing some mute badass kicking ass in the old days. Supposedly it's a beautiful if slow film.

It would appear that Guillermo Del Toro has jacked the Hobbit movie in citing scheduling clashes with the rest of his projects. Can't say I blame him, after 2 years of fucking around the film is still nowhere near getting the green light. With all the legal wranglings still going on, i'm beginning to wonder if it will ever get made. That said though Jackson might dive in as director now which wouldn't be a bad thing.

As I understand it, the movie rights are part-owned by MGM, who is in a massive pile of financial poo at the moment, meaning there is literally no coherence or effective decision-making coming out of them. It caused the next Bond film to be put on indefinite hold.

Heres what del Toro had to say recently
Q: We've been following your production of THE HOBBIT, and every time the production gets delayed. Do you know when you're actually going to start and get on set?

Guillermo del Toro: There cannot be any start dates really until the MGM situation is resolved, because they do hold a considerable portion of the rights, and it's impossible to make a unilateral decision by New Line or Warners to give the greenlight to proceed. We really believe that things will be known after the fact of MGM's fate. Whether they stay and get supported, or they get bought, or they transfer some of the rights: nobody knows. We've been caught in a very tangled negotiation.

Now I've been on the project for nearly two years. We have designed all the creatures; we have designed the sets and wardrobes; we have done animatics and planned very lengthy action sequences and scary sequences and funny sequences. We are very, very prepared for when it's finally triggered, but we don't know anything is sold.
I dont think he is just going to throw 2 years of work away.
He will be directing this....its just a matter of when...

Why dont they make the whole plane out of that black box stuff?

Watched "Crazy Heart" with Jeff Bridges this morning. Predictable down and out story, but still entertaining.

Movie deserves a 6, but the soundtrack was so awesome it receives a 7 broken down country singers out of 10.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Saw Hot Tub Time Machine.

When a movie makes you wish you had seen MacGruber again instead, that's a bad movie.
