In geeky anticipation of the new Terminator TV show, I've started watching the Terminator films again.

Don't bother with Terminator 3 - the makers of the TV show already said that the Chronicles will be made as though T3 didn't happen.

Which, as far as I'm concerned, is a good move. Though it's a shame they weren't able to get Linda Hamilton as Sarah Conner ...

Besides, I'm just going to watch it for Summer Glau.

Yeah T3 sucked.

I think the woman playing Sarah Connor is smokin hot though :(

At risk of being blasphemous, I'm going to say that T2 was the only worthwhile Terminator flick.

HERESY! Have you even seen T1 recently or are you just basing that assumption on memory?

T1 had the "phonebook killings", the beatdown of those punks in the beginning, those awesome flashbacks - machines crushing skulls, jeeps with lazorcanons, etc. -the annihalations of the policestation, the cutting out of eyes, etc. etc.

It was an awesome movie.

On another note, the first rule of Terminator fanclub is that you do not talk about Terminator 3, the second rule is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT TERMINATOR 3!, the third rule is that Nick Stahl is marked for death.

The Dark Knight is the movie I've been looking forward to for ages. Heath Ledger was cast perfectly, and is so deliciously crazy/evil. :( If it isn't the top grossing movie of the year, I'll be shocked.

Also, Cloverfield comes out this week! Stoked!
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

Southland Tales: weirdest movie EVER

I liked it but you would never ever ever ever ever guess the ending from what you saw in the first hour... also long, maybe too long...

Best quote ever award “I’m a pimp, and pimps don’t commit suicide."

Random people getting sniped with 50 cals are also an added bonus.
Also has a very good cast... still weird though

No Country for Old Men: Another weird movie, the villain should be up for the creepiest bad guy award, I liked the movie, even though the ending pissed me off, doesn’t mean it was a bad ending just upsetting....

Loose lips sink ships and all that...stupid mother...

No Country For Old Men is not a Hollywood movie, it is a movie more akin to real life. How often does anything ever wrap up neatly in real life, how often do people actually get what they deserve? The fact the movie makes you think and leaves you wondering is why it is so great.

If you want a movie with everything spelt out for you, shown and explained, go see National Treasure.

If you want a great movie, that will make you think, want to watch it over and over again, and talk about it with your friends, go see No Country, or There Will Be Blood.

End Rant.

well to me guy with most screen time = protagonist
no need to rant i said i liked the movie... and I did get the overall theme...

My two questions were mainly stemmed from the fact that i was watching a hodgey copy (ie a copy were someone filmed it from the theater, then put it on a cd.. not great quality.) so im never sure if my copy is missing scenes ect.

If you can, watch it in the theater. It probably isn't missing scenes, both things you mentioned were off screen, and I can understand the lessened impact watching a boot leg, and probably makes it a bit harder to get the nuances.

I've seen it 3 times in the theater, gets better every time.

Stuck overseas?

Well, enjoy the movies too!

Cormac McCarthy also has Blood Meridian coming out, and if anyone remembers it from way back when, he wrote All The Pretty Horses starring Matt Damon and directed by Billy Bob Thorton, too.

First book of the Border Trilogy, a book series everyone should read.

Watched it this past weekend and thought it was brilliant. Of the two film auteurs I've followed most closely, David Cronenberg's work is far surpassing that of David Lynch lately. While Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks are masterpieces, Lynch has devolved into self-indulgent obscurity. A History of Violence and now Eastern Promises are mesmerizing works.

I watched The Bucket List this past weekend... as-expected Rob Reiner fare. Pretty funny and warm. Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson are as expected as well...

Cancer would have been an improvement. With a more satisfactory ending.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
