The rumours I was reading said they wanted to have the leader of said terrorist group become Mandarin.

from IMDB page for Ironman II:

The Mandarin is also confirmed to appear as a behind-the-scenes presence, which will most likely function as a set up for Iron Man 3.

Aside from Black Widow and Whiplash, Justin Hammer will be in the movie as Stark's new economic opponent, and there's rumour confirmation of Iron Maiden (played by Olivia Munn) appearing as well (probably opposed to Black Widow). Add on the mini army of other robots and this one is going to be packed with awesome!

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Dear God,

Please let this be true, and not like that other comic book movie that had foes a-plenty and was also supposed to be packed with awesome. You know, the one after Spiderman 2 that we don't mention among polite company. Or that Transformers sequel that was eye candy but an incoherent mess. The theory that 1 villain and storyline is good so 3 must be 3 times as good is not necessarily true for all cases.

I'm begging you here. :D

Well, I think if they're smart then all the foes will be one - Mandarin will manipulate Justin Hammer, who will pay and equip Whiplash, Iron Maiden, the army of mini-iron-men and Black Widow (when she's not on Stark's team). Not necessarily all connected immediately, but their common goal of wanting to take down Stark could easily bring them all together and I think that could work very well.

That really does sound like too much going on. Trailer looks good, though.

I'm just hoping they haven't gone too far down the Spiderman 3 route and ended up with too many major characters...

On the jaw-droppingly awesome note, is that new trailer the one with the porta-Ironman suit that unfolds from a tiny box? Because that IS. THE. SHIT. :)

Well, upon a quick perusal of the thread we can see how wrong and right we were.

It was very good. Characters were developed further, action sequences were fun but not overwhelming, the plot and acting were good etc. 4/5

Dunno about Mandarin and Iron Maiden though, unless I blinked and missed them. :p

EDIT: Scarlett Johansson - oh my dear freakin' GOD! *dribble* :D :D :D :D :D :D

Film picked up where the last one left off.
Lots of the same stuff that made the 1st one so good.

Scarlet kicked ass as Black widow.
And was good to see "Happy" Hogan play a proper part this time.

Even Scarlett Johansson is not enough to get me to see this movie. That first one was AWFUL.

Hollywood's obsession with whoring out comic book adaptations needs to stop.
