Which is the second level? Have you reached the park/gardens bit yet? I've always found the Big Daddies are right in my path on the way to my next objective, or on the way back out of an area where I picked up a new power-up - i haven't had to go looking for them yet.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Bioshock thread! And I missed it!

Loved this game (aside from the aforementioned repetitiveness). The freaky stuff is just epic win, and the game can be damn hard - friend of mine played through on hard with only the wrench and plasmids (once you get the invis, the wrench-freeze-people, and the wrench-gives-health tonics, apparently, it's easy.)

Personally, I struggle with Hard full stop, let alone putting such a ridiculous limit on myself.

I need some help with this game. I'm on the second level. I've cleaned out the level, accomplished all objectives, but I haven't harvested all the little sisters in the level. I can't find them either. Up to this point, the Big Daddies go to the duct, bang on it, then pull the little sister out. Now they just bang and no little sister comes out. THe Big Daddy then wanders back and forth to a different duct, with the same results. How do I get the rest of the sisters to come out?

Have you tried using a bathysphere to change level and then coming back again?

Maybe its the littlesiter logos that are glitching.

Ok, the internets have informed me that there is a glitch. On level two there are 3 little sisters, but you can accidentally trigger a glitch to where 4 appear. If you harvest all four, the game only notices that you don't have 3, so you always get the message that you haven't gotten all the little sisters, even though you have gotten more of them then is technically possible. Good to go.

Kill them, they're evil! And you get loads more plasmids.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I saved them, in exchange I got loads of free stuff, and it had an effect on the game I'm sure.

What happens if you don't save them?

One time I acidentally harvested her instead of rescuing it, it gave a hell of a lot of adam. I have to admit it looked tempting to kill them, I just couldn't get myself to do it.

I kill them all, and harvest all their adam. Yum.

I'm going to get way more plasmids I hope, but now the tapes I keep finding hint that plasmid use is basically what drove everyone nuts, so they'll be a price to pay later... I'll post when I get round to continuing with it. I'm at the 'green' level, no idea how long the game is. (It is a bit repetitive, and I'm somewhat distracted by M+B at the mo).

You're a bit less than half way through the game.

And, you can go ahead and use all the plasmids you want. It wont affect you in a negative way... which by the way would have been an interesting strategic consequence of using the plasmids.

Go write a letter to the developers so they'll include that idea in the sequel.

By saving them, you get special plasmids including a big-daddy mind control plasmid. It's fun.
Also, if you kill them you

Aw, I thought I was going to start seeing more ghosts, and then go bonkers and turn into a splicer or something.

Exactly the same thing. What extras do you get when you save them?
Legalise drugs! And murder!

It evens out completely at the end - you get the exact same amount of stuff (though I think one gives you more ADAM, and one more...of the other stuff? Tonics? I can't remember...but I know that in the end you have access to nearly the exact same stuff).

I loved how you had to peice the story together through snippets. At some point, i found finding a new tape was more fun than a new weapon upgrade or plasmid. I have noticed the game loses most of its creepy atmoshphere later on, but i think its actually a matter of perspective. You, the player, have gotten over most of your fears of rapture, which ties in well with your in-game character, who at this point should have become used to the enviroment. All in all, great game.

Yeah, I remember feeling the tension sort of leaving the game, around the third or fourth level. It wasn't because the game changed, rather it was me changing to adapt to the games style. I'm usually the carefull, sneaky type and those crazy beserker splicers and tough and deadly spidersplicers scared the crap out of me. But after getting half way though the game I stopped being intimidated and just charged them.

All the defensive plasmids and the research I'd done reduced the splicers danger, and my usual fear of being damaged disappeared when I was constantly rolling in hypos, first aid and dollars. In fact you didn't even need those, you could just use the vita-chambers.

I stopped even trying to survive against the big daddies. I just went up close to them and shot them in the back with the pump gun untill they killed me, then I ran back and shot them some more.
