God Fucking Dammit!

I just played 15 minutes then the game started to tell me that it wasn't recognising any of my game saves. I could quick save or do a regular save but checking I couldn't reload those saves because there were none. I closed the game and tried starting it up again. Now the game crashes every time I start it. It doesn't even get to the games menu!

RAAAAAGEEEE!!!

EDIT: Tried toying with some of the launch thingies in the steam folder. No luck.

I'm guessing I'll have to reinstall the whole damn game. At least I found the save folder. And it is not empty which is a relief.

Damn, that's terrible. I had the game crash on me quite a few times, but never had any problems with saves.
We sail in and out of Time, then back again. There is only one ship, the captain says. All the ships we hail between the galaxies or suns are this ship.

Whooo it's working again.

Tried doing a back-up and deleting the local content and re-installing it. Didn't work.

Tried deleteing everything and re-installing from the steam server. Didn't work.

Then I took a look in the save folder. Tried deleting the newest quick save and hard save and apparently that worked. Cause it's working now.

Fuck yes.

I would have been really pissed if I didn't get to play the last two levels.

Finally got through. Had a little cry. The good ending was very mushy and sad.

Now that I am through I don't understand the criticism. This game is better in every way than the original was. The only that it may be missing is the originality, Rapture is no longer new, the powers and mobs are now familiar. But I loved the first and I thought this was an improvement all around.

I thought the story was much better than the first one. You got to see a lot of the historical places, I especially liked Fontaine futuristics. I also thought that the clash between Ryans extreme capitalism and Lambs zealous communism was fascinating. Two completely insane world views clashing with disastrous results.

Has anyone done the evil storyline instead? Harvesting the Little Sisters? Killing the Key characters? Etc.

Spoiler

Now I'm off to begin Mass Effect 2, been looking forward to this.

I finished the game last night, too. I was a bit underwhelmed at the action in the final area, but the story was superb, so I wasn't bummed.

The only thing that I should have done was to stand still when listening to the audio diaries. I caught a lot of what was being said, but the stupid splicers constantly respawning in each area usually interrupted my listening and made me lose track of the story, at times.

I have to say that the Fountain of Youth and Drill Vampire tonics are amazing. I love starting to feel like a demi-god near the end-game when you have so many ways to heal and kick ass that you feel unstoppable.

My second run through will have the vita chambers turned off. That's going to be a whole different experience.

I agree, I was actually going to mention it above.

There was actually something that confused me about those audio recordings. Maybe I just missed something, but:

Yeah, that plus the damage research tonic, the elemental vampire tonic, armor skin 2 tonic, etc. makes you pretty fucking badass. In the end I had so much money that I could buy all the ammo I wanted, so I just rocket launchered and fire bombed everything I encountered.

This was actually a relatively easy battle for me. Just used ice and rocket spears and grenade mines.

The Vita chambers, like in the first game, ruins any feeling of desperation and worry about losing that I had. Even the little sisters respawn with you when you die.

I remember in the first game I cheated and when I had to fight a big daddy I just lured him to a Vita chamber and just shot gunned him until he killed me and then I shot gunned him some more. Rince and repeat.

This time around I was disciplined enough to fight fair, but honestly, the Big Daddies where a lot easier to fight this time around. Last game they were like mini-boses now they were easily managed with plasmids and armor piercing rounds.

In response to Vita-Chambers, I forgot to turn them off, but never used them anyway, preferring to re-load a save. With the frantic pace of some of the battles, I wasted tons of ammo trying to hit Big Sisters and whatnot. Respawning in the Vita-Chamber waste pretty much a waste of the ammo I already spent and would cost me more money in the long run buying it back. I personally think it's financially irresponsible to use the Vita-Chambers, lol.

As far as the audio logs, I felt there were very few that advanced the story or even were remotely interesting. For instance, in the original, there was Sander Cohen's "The Wild Bunny" and Steinman's "Limits of Imagination"; but not a single log from the sequel sticks out in my mind. However, one of the few things that Bioshock 2 does bettter is the ending; that is, there actually is one instead of just nothing.

What? You didn't like the log where Eleanor starts breaking shit? Or the one where Eleanor begins taking apart the audio diary while she's talking into it? Good stuff.

The one where she takes it apart was alright; the one with the dishes was boring. I thought most of her entries were boring.

I thought the ones where she was talking about the 'dog eater' Amir were fairly bland, but the ones where she interacted with Lamb or reacted to something Lamb told her were good characterization for Lamb's character.
