that defence sounds nice and logical. too bad logic doesn't fly with many people here...

Kaschan seems useful in hunting bad guys down. I think perhaps people should look at that defense very carefully.

@Kaschan - really? You think losing a First is doing good? Plus, it's really not that hard to get him NK'd, when there are two other Firsts, and two other Thirds, any combination of which ('cept two Thirds) he'll die from. I'd rather risk losing a blackmask than a First, even if it does save some people. Because, of course, you are saying that he's playing a WCS with NK's - that all other high levels target someone from his faction. That's unlikely.
Think again.
The odds that Galain would get NKed will never be zero, even if he laid low, but are low enough to balance the advantages of getting votes by being vocal.
In this game, there are 4 players a 1st can NK, and close to 20 he can't do anything about. If anything, it's the 7th of each team that's the most important player, he can weed the field to his heart's content.

Oh, touche, Kaschan.
Very good.
That makes me want to vote Galain.

Is that sarcasm?
That last part about him voting me after I voted him, then asking Korlat "why you vote me, unless you know I'm not on your team?", I just realized when I was writing down the sequence of events.
That's another reason for his spamming antics, you lose track of the thread, so every one's info is lost (except his own team, it's easy to write down the alts that vote for your leader)

yawn
still buried in paperwork, might stick around till its done, will check here occasionally.
Think there's now a 1-2 hour lull till a lot of people suddenly jump on.

One more word about Tennes:
He's quoting and exposing those who defend me. Now, that's tricky, since it kinda sets up future potential lynches.
So is he honest?
If he is and thinks I'm another team's leader, then by definition he doesn't KNOW it, he just believes it completely. And apparently, he believes it so much he's exposing players who "defend" me. What if he's wrong? What if he's painting targets on players from his own team?
I mean, I understand there's some things pointing at me, but I don't think they are that solid (proof is, I know them to be wrong).
So why wouldn't Tennes just concentrate on lynching me before starting to point at other players? Here's my thought:
He knows they are not on his team, and paints the target on purpose. And the only way he can be so sure, is not because they are defending me, but because those players also mentioned they would go for Galain.
Tennes doesn't care which team I'm on, or whether I'm a leader or not. He knows I'm not with him since I voted Galain, and by fingering the others that threatened (or voted) Galain, he's getting them to vote for me, and setting them for future lynches, since wether or not they're on my team he doesn't care, he knows they're not in his.
I'm off for a bit.

I've been thinking a bit more on what firsts and thirds might do to try and persuade people that they weren't leaders. A possible stratagem is to fake-symp someone in such a way that it makes you look like a blackmask trying to defend your leader. I thought of Korlat, but this would be fake-symping in a way that wouldn't be so obvious.

not sure I understand you. which part wouldn't be so obvious? the symping or the fake?

hmm, the way I see it it's a pretty big gamble for a leader to fake-symp someone. Unless he fakesymps his own symp, who would go along with it, or an actual leader of one of the other 2 schools, if the sympee is lynched, the CF will reveal to that person's school that the "symp" was an impostor. and he can then expect a nightly challenge from the actual leaders of the given school.

Well, I would point out that Kaschan has been jumping around trying to defend himself...but he is at L-3. Or something. So I don't think it's relevant.

Just random thoughts. Don't mind me.

and what would be the benefits of such a gamble? in the scenario outlined by Kaschan where the leader goes on the edge to attract votes, the benefit is clear--all his symps learn who's not with them.
in the scenario you propose, not only is there danger that his symps will follow his fake-sympage and also get revealed, but, more importantly, it communicates next to no information to the rest of the leader's school, whiel the risks are huge.

Is he at L-3 or L-4?
I thought there were 9 votes on him last time we had an update.
