I was surprised to discover last year that Berklee barely has a graduate program. I think they offer two master's degrees, both in industry.

That's strange. Maybe they figure once you've got 4 years of Berklee you're just about as good as you can get.

Berklee grads I think are awesome: John Petrucci and Gillian Welch. The two couldn't be more opposite in their styles, yet both are exquisite examples of their respective genres.

Billy Joel is great. I played 'We didn't Start the Fire" constantly when I was 10. I didn't know what he fuck he was talking about, but I liked it.

Do you know anymore famous musicians who graduated from prestigious music schools?

I line to know these sorts of things.

I'm under the impression that most of the great guitar gods never went to school to learn their instrument. They just had an inherent understanding of tonality and rhythm; they were just naturals.

Everyone in Aerosmith except for Steven Tyler went to Berklee. I think everyone in Tool except for Maynard was also musically trained. Trey Parker (co-creator of Southpark) is musically trained.

Terez, could Cougar have made it any clearer? Maybe you'll understand it when I say it: Stop derailing the thread. If you two want to have a conversation about music schools then take it to msn or start a new thread.

I'm not sure at this point what is ontopic for this thread.

Steve Tyler's (nee Steve Tallarico) parents both taught music in schools on Long Island, NY. They also owned summer cottages in Sunapee NH, which were rented out to us locals in the off-season months. Aerosmith used to practice in the barn at that complex at the start of their career. They were the most assholish people I've ever known, and I've known some assholes.

I got a reply today!

----------

I'm sorry Liz, I have been misleading you. I am actually Billy Joel and decided to contact you in order to give you some advice on graduate music courses in the US. If you aren't interested in graduate music courses, I can give you further advice on how to stimulate the average cervix.

Best wishes

Billy

-------------------

My response will be:

Dear Billy,

For the aural torture that is Achey Breaky Heart, you must be destroyed!!

Best wishes and love to the family.

Liz

LOL! You know, I just twigged that myself and was returning to make amends, but you beat me to it!

Another pair to add to my list of not the same people! Billy Joel is not Billy Ray Cyrus. Ha ha ha!! That has given me a good chuckle.

ITT:

Billy Ray Cyrus uses his electric boogy woogy to stimulate Bon Jovi's cervix which then causes Hetan to temp ban most of the posters while Mezla waxes on about a suprise post-op tranny email conversation.
