It sounds to me like he was hopeful that he could flirt with you, until he found out you were taken, at which point he felt he had no chance and decided to make it look like you were the one that wanted him rather than the other way around, so he could feel better about his inevitable rejection.

Terez, we don't think that deeply.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I have been Miss Leadingyou, an assistant teacher in a small comprehensive off Reading.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Yes, and that's why guys are able to act on such ridiculous chains of logic as the one I proposed - by acting without thought. :p

"I am really sorry Liz, but I have been misleading you. In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team."

Makes sense to me. Course I keep forgetting things and my head hurts a lot but it makes sense. Tugalug.

It is not a chain of logic. It is a chain of convoluted thought that no simple man would ever bother with.

Most trains of thought don't require effort, though. They just happen - sometimes you're not even aware of them. This is obviously one of those cases. :p

It's not so.

The kind of people who don't have to think about that kind of thought chain are all girls... Usually when they're trying (and failing) to imagine the thought processes of men - big hint; we're never that complicated. The kinds of thought chains that men don't have to think about usually involve beer, (semi)naked ladies and/or professional team sports.

Remember ladies, if you're foolish enough to ask any man what he's thinking, all out of the blue (and I wouldn't recommend doing this; as someone who's been on the receiving end of it; it's majorly annoying) the correct answer 9 times out of 10, will be "Nothing," The other time the answer will probably be "If you gave a shark a machine gun, would it be able to beat a T-Rex in a fight?"

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. I dunno. Some guys, maybe. Take for instance, WoT, and Rand. A fictional character, true, but written by a man with some pretty basic hetero-male tendencies, as we discussed previously. People always make fun of RJ for being completely clueless and even crude when it comes to stereotypical gender behavior, but it's all a caricature of those stereotypes.

Rand is always trying to make things out to be simpler than they actually are, the women are always making things out to be more complicated than they are, but there's a truth in between that only the reader and the Creator are privy to, that neither can quite grasp. :p Lews Therin is a good example. In Rand's POV, Lews Therin is invading his head, trying to take over his body, his mind, and the Power. Simple, right?

Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to pretend that this guy is representative of the general male population. I'm just saying that he's probably the kind that is able to convince himself of some remarkably stupid things by virtue of not really inspecting his reasoning very closely.

There's this guy I had an unfortunate one night stand with about 10 years ago who still tries to talk to me even though I made it abundantly clear that I was not interested in dating him. He was, and remains to be, one of those. I remember him saying to me that he hated being alone because he didn't like to think. *shudder* I suppose you could say he was the exaggerated form of that particular male stereotype. :p

He doesn't have any hands, so I'm taking the T-Rex... unless this is in the ocean.

One of the women I dated used to ask me what I was thinking all the time. I'd say, "nothing." And she'd say, "you can't think about nothing, it's impossible." That was annoying. Usually my mind is occupied by what I am doing, watching t.v., reading, whatever. THAT is what I am thinking about, or in the case of television, that is what I was "not" thinking about.

@Terez, well I once had an imaginary fight with my girlfriend on New Years Eve... but I blame obscene amounts of alcohol for that ridiculousness.

What did this "imaginary girlfriend" look like?

If a girl asks you what you're thinking about, just either make something up on the spot (I'm thinking about what god Karsa will kill-it'll seem random to them) or compliment them. You can't lose!

Because misleading your significant other is AWESOME! Telling the truth is stupid, right? Imaginary fight = drunkenness (well, this is pretty ridiculous too), imaginary girlfriend = fucking pathetic.
