Oh wait, I see my mistake. When he gets off the train in the morning, he sets his watch to be 5 minutes slow. So when the evening train leaves, it's 5 minutes after it's supposed to leave, not 5 minutes before. That makes 10 minutes difference, which makes my answer match the correct one.
