And another way to measure the time:
If you have access to an infinite amount of matches, one could start burning the rope (which lasts 1 hour) and then see how many matches you can burn in that 1 hour (matches are supposed to burn at the same speed along their wood shaft everywhere, unlike the rope from this riddle). When the rope is burned out you just count the amount of burned matches, multiply that by (3/4) and then just burn that amount of matches to measure 45 minutes.

Very clever Mcflury, I cannot fault your logic. I reckon he's right. Your turn to riddle, mate...I think

I'd rather wait 'till sixty said it's the correct answer. I'll check back tomorrow morning, and if by then Sixty didn't answer, I'll post a new riddle anyways.
That leaves me another few hours to think of an interesting riddle :) Let's try and make this one epic (which is other words for: it'll either not make sense at all, or it'll be easy as shit, in as far shit is ever easy)

Okay, no sign of Sixty, so here we go:

A science riddle, rather easy for most, but asking it anyways:
You have a substance at your disposal of which you know it's either kitchen-salt or sugar. How would you check out which one exactly it is, only using material from your kitchen and you're not allowed to taste?

Get a small sample and put it under an open flame. If it produces a coloured flame (I think) it's kitchen-salt; if it melts and caramelises it's sugar.

That's what I'd do at least. Am I right?

Well, you've got the right idea. The trick is to not put them inside the flame (since that'd make a hard look, and I don't think kitchensalt will color the flame other than orange-ish) but to put them for instance on a spoon and hold the spoon in the flame.
Salt will indeed just heat, do nothing special. Sugar will caramelise.
Well done :(

Your turn

Ok then, a fairly easy and logical one.

I stare through the dirty soot-smeared window on the 22nd floor of the office tower. Overcome with depression I slide the window open and jump through it. It's a sheer drop outside the building to the ground. Miraculously after I land I am completely unhurt. Since there was nothing to cushion my fall or slow my descent, how could I have survived the fall?

Yes, it's on Earth. And your supposed to be thinking "outside the box" on this one. Read the words carefully.

I think the answer is because he was standing on the edge outside of the building before he slid the window open and then jumped inside the building instead of outside (as any logical person would think).

Yeah he was outside the building, possibly on a platform and jumped through the window into the building.

Seeing as you only have one box of matches, this will not work.

Cutting the string doesn't work as someone else pointed out, since different parts of the string burn at different rates.

Since my answer to Mappo's riddle was most likely correct, and since Frook wanted a lower difficulty, I'll post a new riddle:

Riddle me this: Snow White is making dinner for the seven dwarfs. After an hour of cooking, Snow White starts filling the boles with the food. You do a quick count and you see that only seven bowls have been filled. How many people in that room didn't get food?
