strategy games for us that like games where 1000ands die

Cyrus can be extremely helpful, but requires tonnes of micromanagement.

In any case, I finished the basic DoW2 campaign, and went on to Chaos Rising. I destroyed a lot of gear at the end of DoW2, mainly b/c I decided I don't need that shit when I have Termi armor, right? Also didn't complete most of the very-end-of-the-game optional missions (beyond the Warboss and Avatar).
Cue my surprise when I started Chaos Rising from that save. Yay for using white gear for half the expansion.

In any case, I loved Chaos Rising. I am now stuck at goddamn Ulkain, and he's a TOUGH MOTHERFUCKER I have to say. Once I gather my mental strength I might attempt that mission again. Got over 200 armor on Vanilla Ice but still Ulkain takes like 1/4 of his HP with each swing. WADDAFAK? And, his health pool. Oh my god, his health pool, and his armor. GAH.

i just dont have the patience for cyrus...I never played the expansions, are they worth the money?

for those of you who have played mount and blade, when you go on a bounty hunter mission you get sent to a random village, you get there, but i can never find the guys im after, i ask around and the villagers just say, theres plenty of strangers who turn up, im sure you will find him if you look...is it just a case of looking? or do i have to mess about and do the village quests?

Hell yes. Well, the one expansion :p the second one is coming soon, however.
Yes, it's worth it. The campaign is shorter but the pacing is a lot better, and the campaign may very from playthrough to playthrough.

It's just a case of looking. It's also scriptet where he's supposed to be, so once you find him in that village, you'll know where he is in all the other villages that looks like that one.

ride around the village, explore the nooks and crannies, and make sure to check the outsides of the sheds just outside the village. Usually, the guy stands somewhere behind a house/barn (mostly a blind wall) - he's the only one in the village wearing a sword. The tag is Nervous Looking Man or some such when you start a convo with him. The villagers are a pain, they don't help you with any info.

He will also be the only one standing still (aside from the village elder).

Playing DoW2. Cyrus is v. Useful. Esp against 'nids, b/c he can headshot synapse creatures (warriors) , sending the gaunts into crazy frenzy.

I'm not the one to ask/answer, as I don't really like Civ... Although i did buy and play the last installment (and civ 3). To me, they are largely the same.

as it happens i found him about 5 min after making that post

I would like to say how amazing mount and blade warband is, the detail is amazing.

I raided this village which was pretty much on the other side of the map from my teritry, and then a few days later a lord raids my viliage and when i rush to defend he tells me he is there in revenge for my attack on his viliage! i just think thats a great little detail to put in the game, and theres loads of little things like that in there

also does anyone know what the multiplayer is like? is it only the battles or can you actualy do the nation building part as a multiplayer option?

and am i the only one who wishes for a cusser when he sees a group of enemy soldiers riding towards him?

YMMV, but there are people (quite a lot, in fact) that say Civ IV is the best game in the series. I'm inclined to agree, since they're being total dicks about civs and DLC with Civ V :/

I have not played the multiplayer, but I hear that it's what makes the game great. I've only played single player (not the most legal version of the game). I did hear that the multiplayer only concerns map battles, no nation building involved. I'm sure a google search will give you better results.

i guess if it had the nation building aspect you would have to be prepared to play a mulitplayer game over the course of months and not many people have the patience

Yeah pretty much. I'm on the 800+day mark on that game (800 in game days, not days played :() and I own maybe 1/4 of the map. It would take forever to win on single player, let alone multiplayer.

360 days now... and only control 2 cities, one castle and one village, so it will be a while before I can take on any national army.

Oh yes, it is very time consuming. The national armies get somewhat easier once you recruit enough lords (and with enough rodok crossbowmen). I would also recommend getting the battle sizer, allowing you to have up to 1000 people on the battle map at the same time (I've limited myself to 400). Also the diplomacy mod is excellent and it is also possible to transfer your save game from warband to diplomacy. It just adds so much more with regards to the administration of your nation, diplomatic relations, and recruitment -- recruitment so much easier with a constable (50 recruits of any kind for 1000 denars, 2 recruiters sent out from each castle/city you own). You also get a chancellor who takes care of your nation's treasury.

im playing warbands, im on about 200+ days, as soon as i got my firstcastle i started to put all my top level troops (swadian knights and shapshooters) in there and then went and recruited raw recruits and kept doing that. now i have an army of just under 300 all veteren. Then swadia became too powerful and every other nation decided to attack, easily over running my fellow lords. so i basicly abandoned my castle, took all my knights and sharpshooters and went to battle. ive got game set to only 75 people at a time, and even when im facing 3-1 odds im walking away with no casualties. Its getting a bit dull really...I dont even have to pay attention to the battle, i can start the fight, alt tab to watch an episode of house, then switch bk five min l8er to see ive won. If i just send the troops in with out me, i lose about 5 each battle to wounds while my enemy loses 50 to the grim reaper.
I only have a right to rule of about 20, but im pretty sure i could just abandon my job as marshal of swadia and start my own nation easily enough
