It was fun seeing the actor who played Walder Frey on GOT in the "sneak peek" that aired on BBC America. I'm guessing he is playing the first Doctor? Is that right? Any of you "whovians" know?

Yeah. He played Hartnell in the film they did for the 50th anniversary of the creation of the first few episodes, and he was so popularly received that this seemed like a no-brainer.

Well, that was a disappointing sign-off for the Moff and Capaldi. And tbqh, for the mighty Murray Gold.

Ten, Eleven, and Twelve all also crashed/destroyed the TARDIS as they first took on the controls after regenerating from the previous incarnation. It's a modern excuse to revamp the interior TARDIS set.

Didn't he also play the janitor type guy in Harry Potter.

Finally had enough free time to finish up, including the Christmas episode.

Huh, I'll be damned. Nardole has glass nipples and invisible hair.

Damn, Peter Capaldi played the Doctor brilliantly, I'm going to miss him. I love that man. We will still have the memories though. < < < < < see what I did there? Posted Image

Anyone know when the next season is scheduled to begin airing?

Finally on. Looks like I’m watching Capaldis final Ep atm. Something called The Lost Episode is coming on next. 3 hrs long. Says it’s new

This is a 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) serial that was never finished (due to a BBC strike in the middle of filming) written by Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide), so it's always been in pieces with only about half of it completed...they finished the unfinished bits in Animation as far as I know, and remastered the whole thing...so you'll be watching an episode that should have been slotted into Season 17 (1980).

BBC's moving the DW schedule around (I assume to fiddle with and manage its budget) every season drives me fucking NUTS. They were like "We are shifting it from the typical spring spot to over the summer with a hiatus in the middle to make it more like the movies!" for season 6...then fully into the fall of the NEXT year for S7 & 8....and then S9 waited while they shifted it BACK to the late fall/winter timeslot of the following year, and then S10 was dumped back into spring and then almost a year wait till the Xmas ep...basically the last few seasons of Moffat's WHO we had to wait endlessly. And then a whole year for the new team to bring S11.

I'm ONLY giving them a pass on S11 because it's a whole new team and cast...I'm of the mind that they never should have let Moffat screw with it to begin with. The Spring timeslot was perfect as it was.

Anyways, have I mentioned how excited I am for Jodie's first season?! SO EXCITED.

doubt it had that much to do with Moffat. Although they brought it back, there's still a sense of lingering distaste towards DW from the Beeb at times. They happily jerk it around, almost like they're ashamed of it's success.

Did the same thing with Musketeers.

I'm hoping for a return to simplicity. I had such high hopes for Moffatt but afer the mess he made it'll be a relief, if that's what we get, to have a story that's got a concrete, fully planned-out destination.

I really enjoyed that! Looking forward to next week when all the regenerating gaffs will be out of the way, but that was a good opener. Jodie has tons of whimsy and great timing.

Also, it was set in my hometown! So I was rolling about laughing at all the "We don't get aliens in Sheffield" and what have you, and enjoyed spotting lots of parts of the good old Steel City that I recognised in the background! Posted Image

Beautiful setting at the start of the episode. A place I wouldn't mind visiting. Posted Image Got goosebumps when the Doctor remembered who she is. Same for when she changed into her new outfit. Nice cliff hanger at the end to. Liking the design of the new sonic screwdriver too.

All and all, an excellent episode.

Yep, proper great episode for Jodie’s first outing! Really like her Doctor already!

Also, her leitmotif “theme” is solid too. Closer to 9 and 10’s orchestral/choir themes than 11 and 12s more bombastic “madman with a box” stuff. I don’t miss Murray Gold. Without his overly Loud music overpowering the dialogue, we could hear what was going on. New composer Segun Akinola nailed it. Quiet and understated, but still iconic when it needed to be. The tiny bit of the DW theme that played as she crashed through the train was exceptionally well done.

The new companions are all really solid, and I’m glad they all kind of know each other too.

Plus, the Doctor “tinkering” and building stuff is always a favourite thing.

Can’t wait for next week!

Bradley Walsh was great.

Dr Who: "I'm an alien and I'm here."
Graham: "..... C'mon Grace, we're going."

I thought they'd done a fair bit of filming at the Park Hill flats but I think that was only the roof scenes. At least I didnt see any of the iconic (read: butt ugly) Park Hill flats or floating streets.

Nice episode all in all. Whitaker's doctor has a strong Tennant feel to it. Lots of deaths, though.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.
