I would have had him gloating how his armour turned aside daggers, only for everyone to produce swords... he'd then start to run and would end up being shot with a ballista.

As for recruitment... after tonight he is down to a 1-time guard or 1 BP roleless inno, making him the least useful role to recruit of them all.
I wonder what Bent and Gavin are going to do with the knowledge that someone did a find on their people...

by the by, all we are waiting on is Gavin, I think, and maybe confirmation for a provisional or 2.
I hope Masterblue will also join us here, I'm curious as to what he thinks of the game and the people.

Messages to send out:

Ruse:

Despite holding your peace, it seems it's still not enough. Rumours reach you that the noble house that was angry with you yesterday, is doubling it's efforts tomorrow.
All your day powers are negated tomorrow and you are not allowed to vote on lynches.

Ruse 2:

A schooled and then freed gladiator is delivered to your mansion. The letter of recommendation he comes with from the gladiator training school recommends him as a bodyguard who will rather die than let anyone harm you. When you ask him who his previous lord was, he turns out to be mute and unable to write. Neither is the training school willing to reveal the previous owner.

You gain 1 BP against all types of kills, but not against lynches.

D'riss:

You are greeted by your wife when you rise for breakfast, which consists of wine and cheese. She's just arrived from an orgy at some nouveau riche merchants house, where decadence reigns. She looks well pleased, although a little worn out. Under the disguise of a kiss on your cheek, she murmurs: 'Hood's Path is with the Republicans. Now, old man, in return, on your way to the Senate, you will buy me a Nubian slave, male, young, supple. You will sent him here with strict orders to have him bathed and cleaned, then sent to me for... inspection. I'll be in the bedroom.'

Korlat:

Apparently, one of your followers has been a little too forthright about his loyalties during an orgy yesterday. It is the talk of the town that Hood's Path is a member of the Republicans.

Liosan:

You find Ampelas on the corner of the Forum. “I heard you were selling your country villa, my friend?”

“Business is slow, unfortunately, and it seems it will remain that way for as long as this chaos continues,” the other man grunts. “But you wouldn’t be burdened by that, would you? If one profit is lost, you find three or four other goldmines.”

“Maybe I can help you out, as a friendly favour to a fellow senator. We have been colleagues for a very long time, but so far, I don’t quite understand your opinion and role in all the current chaos. Maybe you could enlighten me, as a… favour in return?”

His last used power is:

Night Power: target another player. That player receives a Bulletproof.
His target for this action was:
Thyrllan.

Galayn Lord:

You try to purchase the loyalties of Shadow's personal scribe to find out what he has been up to, and with whom.
Unfortunately, the man seems to have a sense of loyalty that outweighs your offer, and as such, you fail to learn Shadow's current occupation.

Ampelas:

A small retinue of armed men seeks audience with you in the middle of the night. They're foreigners, careersoldiers one and all. With such a crack squad at your back, you could take out nearly any target, but chances of yours and theirs survival in such an attempt are slim to non-existent: these men are soldiers, not assassins.

You receive the following power:

Night Power: Once per game, you may send the name of another player to the mods. Both you and target player are killed. Bullet Proofs do not save you from your own destruction, but may save the other player.

Rashan:

You are a wanted man, and there's a lot of attention centered on you, some of it flattering, some of it unwanted. Someone tried to murder you, someone else tried to recruit you.
You lose 1 BP and lose your recruit proof.

Mockra:

You receive another message in the secret cypher, this one reading:

HP maybe Republican counter. If he’s like me, he’s unrecruitable. I think us and reps have smaller factions than Jul, but Jul can’t recruit yet. We need info from Reps to clear setup.

Mockra 2:

Apparently, one of your followers has been a little too forthright about his loyalties during an orgy yesterday. It is the talk of the town that Shadow is a member of the Brutii.

Gamelon:

You are greeted by your wife when you rise for breakfast. She's just arrived from an orgy at some nouveau riche merchants house, where decadence reigns. She looks well pleased, although a little worn out. Under the disguise of a kiss on your cheek, she murmurs: 'Shadow is with the Brutii. Now, old man, in return, on your way to the Senate, you will buy me a Nubian slave, male, young, supple. You will sent him here with strict orders to have him bathed and cleaned, then sent to me for... inspection. I'll be in the bedroom.'

-----------------

I think that is all... Gavin's (lack of a) provisional actually doesn't matter as he's guarded by Sir Korlat.

I'm a tad bit disappointed by Ment's message to Gavin. He failed to mention that Emurlahn was a succesful recruit yesterday, for one, or the number of players the Brutii had today, or that Serc was another starting Brutii.
Or, he could have contacted either Serc or Emur.

he might assume that Brutus can find out if someone is recruited into there faction... But I would have thought that he would have informed him that Serc was also a member...

I'll put this in SH, wonder how you'll look back on this when you get access :p

Meh. I won't be drawn into your wifom.

I predict that a Julii will not be lynched today.

I'll bet you a glass of white wine and a piece of Stilton :p

God, I must be psychic.

Plus, you owe me wine and stilton. Bring it over tonight, wear that little black number, I'll get the Barry White rocking...

Now I don't know what to do - keep my find on Ampelas (my alarm bells have been ringing about him since the very first post he made), or find out once and for all whether HP is on my side.

Meh, whichever I do, I'll just get guarded.

Confirm find on Hood's Path

Okidoki, change noted.
As for little black number... read your morning message carefully :p

I'm going to write something about wine and cheese at breakfast in his message, the Nubian slave can be his little black number :p

:p
Damn this sucks
It all started with that damn Rashan.....
With me out of game it seems its going to be alot longer :p :p :p
Oh well I guess
I do think that Fener and Mockra were too quiet to be suspicious of leaders...
I should have known not to be loud in Mafia, learnt that over on Modcraft
They really didn't have any incriminating evidence against me.. I dont see why they lynched me and not Thy.
Now they all say that I was too defensive... it was pretty clear that they were all saying that they would change their vote to me if everyone else would.
Kinda sucks to be the first lynched... happened in 2/3 of the Modcraft mafia games. The one I survived in I didnt talk as much
Any word from the 2 modkilled players and why they were not active?
Oh and those cutscenes are pretty cool :p

Thanks for the update and the compliment :p

Malaz Mafia is always pretty random in the early stages. We have a few highly vocal people who always lead the charge, and a few others who do so if they think they know where they're standing. Same in this game... I have the same tendency to be awfully sure (and dead wrong) on day 2 and randomly accuse people. I'd say that here, day 2 is the day for mistakes and that gives weird results, always: there really was nothing to really hold up to the light and connect against you.

As for the game length... we're all waiting for Mockra to be revealed, that will lead to his lynch and a killing spree :p
But you're right, I had hoped you'd be able to sneak in a kill or 2 before being targeted by a finder.

Well played, though, you haven't even been mentioned in provisionals once, which was the real killer against you.

It isn't being to loud it is not being around to defend yourself. One thing that I have learned and am forced to relearn every so often is when you do defend yourself don't do it very hard. Do it with a joke. Don't be paraniod about it. Half the time people are looking for reactions. If you give them a serious reaction then they think that they have a fish on the line.

I thought that you did a pretty good job. Thyrllan really should have been the lynch yesterday. I think that if you had gotten on at some point before Fener voted and said that it was all bullshit you could have pushed the lynch back onto thyrllan. After all Fener would have been happy to have stayed on him...

D'riss - Yellow also has a message for you, MB:

Quote

Oh, and a message for Masterblue (I think that's his name :p )

No wonder I couldn't guess who the fuck you were! Maybe next time :p Unlucky with the kill... you were a victim of circumstance. Though I don't suppose it matters what you're a victim of, only that you died.

Ah well, the Republicans are fucked, I think.

2 down, Rashan an obvious republican (and if he was shitting us with that and he's something else, I will end him), and surely not many of us left.

I no longer have any idea who is on my side. I think probably Emu, maybe Kaschan.

Dunno about HP any more.

Fener, Shadow, Korlat, Thyrllan, Galayn Lord definitely not on my team. I still reckon Gay Lord is Marc Anthony. Something in his play is screaming it at me.

Thoughts from J_Ampelas:

Quote

This is beautiful, things are going absolutely haywire over Thyr's survival! I love it!

Of course its at this point I should admit to something here.
I am not thinking very much ahead or paying as much attention as I should, so I have no clue who is or isn't Julii, besides the names given to me. I just hope that my PM similarly reflects the PMs of some of the other members of Julii, which means that I should have by now painted myself as Julii to them at least.

Now I wonder what the night will bring...

Im in the same time zone as Silencer so im usually asleep for the final part of the day which means i cant really defend myself any more than i did
Thats why i switched my vote on day 1 so it would actually mean something and not tip the scales
I dont really like to joke around, i tried to convince them of my innocence but they all pulled out random nothing from nowhere, no incriminating evidence
Wasn't really expecting them all to change their votes to me but i guess that just how it goes :p

Should perhaps have used it on sil today, but I want at least one later.

I think I will try and hit someone tommorow.

Fener, D'riss, Liosan, Emur, Ruse are all being considered.

Perhaps i'll draw a name from a hat.

Now you go enjoy your little laugh cuase i've just sniffed out and listed every other Republican or somesuch :p

Ah, that's a real bitch.
Most of our main mods are euro-based, so you'd always have the short end of the stick then :p
I think if people were able to alt-guess you, they might have taken things in that light... don't think they had thought about timezones in your posting.

yeah that time zone is tough. Silencer has been done in by it a couple of times. Once I think was at a end of game....That was funny. We did the same thing to JA once too. Ahhh Good times.

Yeah it happens. I usually try to make people think that I am crazy (It isn't really much of a stretch). Then they keep me around thinking that they can alway get a lynch together against me later on. It doesn't always work but it is fun. Look at it this way you lasted 2 days. That is better then being lynched on day one and technically you were the second lynch not the first.

So they should lynch Thyrllan tomorrow then go to night. That will be fun. Then MA forces Brutus to reveal that will be really fun and it will happen on day four. :snigger:

When should we implement the weekend break? Day 3 could be super long...sigh...

Anyway I am on my way home. I will get on later tonight....

Fener - Bent, titled sorry - also with a MB message:

Quote

For the rant, but I hate being called an idiot by some ASS that wasn't even around. And I wanted to look like I din't want Thyr dead as bad as I really fucking do! Love you all in SH. For MasterBlue (always makes me think masterbate, nice!) anyway, good game and bad luck for you and your team. But your loss is my game so HA! J/K. welcome to malazan mafia, hope to see you around again.

Hehe, all's cool, Bent.
I understand your frustration, as I can see that of D'riss, who indeed has been very busy gathering a Thyr lynch :p
Just that it's a recurrent argument in which you usually like to have things remain civil, also for new people, and aside from a couple of new players from other forums, we also have spectators from here who may or may not want to join games in the future, so I decided to keep a short leash :p
