Witcher is a series by a Polish Author Andzhei Sapkowski

the books published in English include short story collection "The Last Wish" and a novel "Blood of the Elves", out this year.

I have the entire Series in Russian, so fairly close to the original language (My Polish is too rustyto read it in it, plus I'd have no clue where to get them in polish)

and yes, it's wicked awesome, i've been devouring these novels one by one, 3 out of 5 of them from a computer screen.

Wait, is the Witcher the computer game based on the books by Sapkowski? Cos fuck, I've been putting them books off, but now I think that was a mistake.

It's based in the same world
the authors (who were Polish) did not dare touch the original storyline of the novels, so they made a game that has the same main character, and the events from books are mentioned in the game, but reading the books is not necessary for enjoying the game.
they are different content-wise, but the developers did their best to re-create the ATMOSPHERE and the feel of Sapkowski's world in the game.

And I want to state that Ment has out-weaseled me by far in this game.

my various computers don't have the graphics required to check.
but reviews I've read, by people that read the books say they did.

Five posts in row to be for the winning condition in a contest of number of said posts in a row!!nine!

And, just so that this post is not complete spam... Tapper, baby. Why didn't you enter the writing competition? Some of those scenes (and I'm not talking about the shameless Shakespeare theft) were brilliant. Enter the next one.

Thanks for the compliment, and I may, possibly... but I need to shake a few of my bad habits first and foremost.
I've tried my hand at a couple of stories in the past, also in voting competitions, but I'm way too much of a procastrinator to actually make the effort when I should... instead, it's always a last minute thing and it shows in the plot, tweaking & details. For half a page, I'm fine. For more, I screw myself royally :).

Was Dibs in there?

We had our own writing competitions back in the day, and his stuff was good.

I remember the death matches .. that was a lot of fun. Too bad most of the original participants are long gone

Hey guys...

I'll try to read through the spoilers, but I'm really tired from a nasty nasty cold (at least I think it's a cold, it feels more like a giant green monster (and I am not sure if that's what it's called in English...)). I got better for a while, but now it has mutated somehow and grown even more nasty. I'm shshshshivering writing this. I hope it was a good game - although I'm having conflicted feelings about missing it. Really sorry for you having to modkill me. I think I'll fade away and get better now...

Oh, and it seems I missed another game too... :p
