Goodkind is our God? You've got to be kidding me...:Surprise:

Good Lord, I hope it failed.

It was pretty funny for a while, especially when they lured in a real Tairyficon :)

No. Goodkind is not as good as his success would suggest, but his writing is nowhere near atrocious enough to make you an asshole. Now, Twilight...

heh heh...
Actually I was referring more to Goodkind's well-known objectivist beliefs than to the quality of the writing. Well, that and I was ripping off a fake quote attributed to Ayn Rand on the back cover of America, the Daily Show book, about how much like reading her books, reading it would make you an asshole for at least a month.

Confession: I've actually read up through Naked Empire. That was a few years ago and I've just never been motivated to finish the series. About the time I heard the next book would feature yet another woman somehow getting Richard in her power and kidnapping him, that was the last, last straw. I was already really sick of plot lines that frequently went like this:
Richard and Kahlan defy the odds to overcome some grave threat by the end of a book.
Next book - Their solution to the previous grave threat has now caused the latest grave threat, something we never heard a word about before.

This happened several times in a row, which was freaking absurd.

omg, some of your posts made lol hard, Illy, RLY and Mappo...rep all around.

Now, I've recently registered with fanfiction.net and I noticed in the rules and guidelines that the Shearded Vulture does not want fan fics of his stuff to be posted publicly. Why is that, I wonder? Is he afraid that anyone, even a twelve-year old illiterate boy from Panama could write his characters better than him, as well as come up with a much better plot?

I'll agree to this. For some mysterious reason, and mind you I was told of this >.>, the mods will brook no individual posting a dissenting opinion of his work on his official website. I can understand trolls but from what I was told, of course, even polite, intelligent posts are deleted and the post is permanently banned. I like TG's work, but the man seems a tad insecure.

So you agree that even a twelve-year old illiterate boy from Panama could write his characters better than him, as well as come up with a much better plots?

Lmao I read this just before I boarded my plane but didn't have a chance to reply. Thanks for giving me a laugh for a while and taking what I said out of context you assholes :) I was referring to the whole being afraid of someone posting, not whether or not that someone could write better then him.

Assholes :)

Edit: Yes Grief, and I'll have you know you just made it to my hitlist for when I become a Machine Gunner in the Marine Corps Infantry. Yeah what now? :)

"I'll threaten people over the internet with bodily harm! FOOLPROOF!"
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Boooooooo! I love the Thomas Covenant books. Though I think the first book may well be the weakest one.

Unless the US military has deteriorated yet further they definitely don't let you carry out internet vendettas on their time.

Grief, unless you are hiding in an allied APC I wouldn't worry about it too much, do watch out for chickens though, especially if they aren't chickens.

If you don't like Donaldson, fair enough, but I will not stand by and let him be slandered by being discussed in the TG thread. He's not for everyone, but in no way imaginable does he deserve comparison to the Shearded One.

Really, RLY, I think there's at least one similarity betweent the two authors.
A couple more might be present but I'm really not familiar enough with either series to comment.
Perhaps you could go through the Covenant books and point out the differences?
Especially the scene in the first book that puts so many people off the series.

Hear hear! More Goodkind bashing! Although I do agree with Illy - Donaldson may almost go so far as to have sex with his thesaurus, he is definitely not on a par with Goodkind. Twilight and the Axis trilogy, that's a different story - rare is the book that has characterisation that is even worse than Goodkind's.

Deteriorated yet further? Are you one of those uninformed Brits who likes to think of the US military as baby killers as well?

:)
