It's like taking a "meh" plot and making it worse.

If you want to ogle half naked women, there are better ways to do that than watching a tv show.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I thought "meh" was a pretty accurate assessment. Nothing special, nothing especially awful. Goodkind's just a massive douche, so people project that attitude onto his books. In part because his douchebaggery extends to some of his writing.

Absolutely, but yeah if people want to know about it I'll definitely start a thread up and let you know some stories and what it was like. Right now I've got some pressing family matters to attend so thanks for the welcome back and I'll definitely find some time to come visit and little bit more guys!

don't go bashing ogling half naked women. it should be praised in any form and place, as long as they're hot to go with it.

also, the series isn't that bad tbh! I didn't read a word of goodkind's stuff, and I'm not really that much into the series, but at least the chick is plenty hot and that's enough. fanservice ftw!

I don't know his work well but there seems to be an inordinate amount of personal hate against the fella.

And no I didn't read the 40+ pages of this post prior to mine.

Terry Goodkind wrote a book.
This Book was called 'Wizards first Rule'.
It involved people forgetting, rape, and the best magician ever not knowing how to be a mage as the major plot points.
It was an ok novel.
He then rewrote the novel 10 more times, based on the exact same things.
His prose and writing got worse, and his interviews got increadibly douchy.
According to Mr. Goodkind, he does not write 'fiction'.

And that, is the TRUTH.

* Cliches are used in place of characterization or description.
* Richard or Kahlan demonstrate Mary Sue/Marty Stu traits.
* It is obvious that Terry Goodkind did no research whatsoever on a given subject.

Ready? Let's start killing our livers!


The only problem is that if you actually tried this, you would die of alcohol poisoning somewhere around page 347 of Book 1, so I wouldn't recommend it.
