My groove is messed by the Olympics causing a lack of people making whiny first world problem level complaints about their lives that i can easily re-edit for hackish-screenplay-fodder.

I was only able to read half the first chapter of FORGE OF DARKNESS on my lunch break, now I have to wait 2 more hours to read some more on my way home...and tonight is date night with Mrs. QT, so I won't get a chance to read it tonight either. I don't deserve to get laid.

Fixed for vengeance.

You forgot to list the US coach as a raging a-hole too...cause she really is.

Sundhage is a raging a-hole and extremely loyal to the players she likes. It took far too long for Heath to get the starting spot over O'Reilly and it took an injury to Boxx for Cheney to start. Mitts has never been able to get on the field consistently for Sundhage either and Buehler has Sauerbrunn stuck on the bench b/c Sundhage loves Buehler.

Quote

And both Sophie Schmidt and Kaylen Kyle outplayed 80% of the US team at any given moment (That's a FACT, go back and watch the game if you must), coupled with Sinclair's typically stellar performance, that's 3 Canadians that left their blood on that field and deserved better than to have it taken from them by shitty ref'ing choices.

I didn't like how Kyle played. It was too Heather O'Reilly-ish for me. Tancredi was actually really good with the crosses and I liked Scott's work. Didn't pay much attention to Schmidt.

Quote

I get my info on how the ref should have called the game by an actual ref I know who works the Toronto FC and even he said that the penalty for the keeper hold should NOT have been the free kick...she wasn't doing her job, if she did we'd have seen a yellow card to Mcleod...and we didn't. There's no way around it, it was a bullshit call. Even American News outlet's are admitting that much.

McLeod admits to an assistant referee warning her - and subsequently dismissing it because it was not a "real warning". No warning is required at all by the FIFA rules. The FIFA rules say Indirect Kick. Not yellow card. I copied and pasted them earlier.

My groove is messed with because the Koreans are losing badly to the Brazilians. I was really hoping they'd pull out the miracle and knock the far more talented squad off.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Patrick Stewart has had to bail out of my city's Comic Con....sigh, he was the biggest name, and one of my main reasons for buying a Deluxe Pass....suckified.

You missed something special then. She was a machine.

I was pretty sure that FIFA required the yellow card as warning...if you say they don't I concede to a smarter mind on the subject...but in conjunction with an immediate and sketchy "handball call"... that was my main complaint. I actually am more upset by the handball call on Eve-Marie, when the ref CLEARLY saw a handball on Rapinoe early in the game and ignored it. That's bad reffing.

In short, the refereeing was poor all around in the game. It was frequently predicted early in the game on other forums I frequent that the ref would insert herself into the game and be a deciding factor at some point, which held to be true. With her limited experience, it seems she may have been overwhelmed by the magnitude of the game she was officiating. One of the clear signs of that to me is that Wambach was permitted to stand near the ref and count out the seconds that McLeod was holding the ball for on repeated occasions. That is a clear challenge to the ref's authority and should have been met with at least a cease and desist order the first time it happened and a caution the second. Both Tancredi and Wambach should have been ejected for late tackles.

The officiating at the Olymipcs all around is messing with my groove. If the athletes are the best of the best, the officials should be as well. The numder of errors by officials just makes the whole thing lose its lustre. I expect to see nonsense from boxing judges, but the extent it has gone to these games is ridiculous. Add in the judo, gymnastics and fencing bits, and it just looks bad. I'm starting to get on the bandwagon of ditching anything that requires judges/refs from the Olympics since so many judged events seem to have tainted results. Faster, higher, stronger and that's it.

Which is why they should get rid of ALL judged sports (plus anything beyond minimal required refereeing) and go back to "Altius, Fortius, Celeritas" ...

But yeah, like that will ever happen in TV land.

Any judged sports are subject to the judges, and in this day and age finding a judge without a bias is nigh impossible. See - the Olympics scandals in every Olympics for the last 20 years.

Personally the ones that bug me most are the gymnastics, since those (especially in London) are being poorly judged, and cultural and country biases are raising their ugly heads...yesterday's balance beam was nearly a robbing of a US gymnast, as one judge had her score incredibly low...but she was Silver medal material as her routine was damn near perfect....she got bronze, but not before they had to challenge the judging...who, surprise surprise was from the country of one of the contenders of the podium. That sort of thing happens A LOT!

I don't know that they should get RID of judged sports, but something needs to be done about the corruption if it's going to be fair.

I've often thought that the Olympics would be vastly improved by the addition of random predatory animals....

Let's see Bolt outrun a hungry cheetah! Synchronized diving over a bull shark! Long jump over fire ants! Table tennis with swooping falcons!!! Stick a pack of lionesses on the field and see if those soccer refs have time to make bad calls!!!

My favorite proposed fix is to make the soccer goal mobile around the edges of the field. Put magnets around and have the movement be randomized to a certain degree. That'd shift the games in a very, very interesting way.

Yeah, Korn were a flash in the pan even when they first came out....let alone be relevant now. The guy's a tool and knoweth not of what he speaks.

Just come watch me do yardwork. I recently discovered cicada-killers - burrowing wasps that sound like low-flying aircraft when they go by.

Texas is the land of things that stick, sting, or bite you. No wonder we're all packing.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.
