I'm with Tiste.

Edit: I'm with Tiste on the mood messing selfish people on that website and not actually physically with Tiste and as such unhappy with his company. If I was actually with Tiste I would be overtly joyous and probably doing impromptu dances of joy every few minutes :D

I'm at work.

Ok, there are bigger and worse problems out there, and I wouldn't mind so much, but I did request the day off back in April!

So I've only had two days off in a row over christmas, so it feels a bit more like a weekend than an actual holiday.

(The guy who does the rota has, of course given himself over a week off.)

On the brighter side, we did have a guy come into the OR on christmas eve with a carrot stuck up his arse. That kept us amused for hours.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I'm doubly screwed.
I had intended to go to Antwerp from the 29th to the afternoon of 31st. However, the workload for next year's planning (which involves ICT, therefore, it is made my job) is such that I can't do that: I'll have to work full time today, tomorrow (which will bring at the least half a day of overtime) and thursday.

So, I cancel my ticket for the high-speed train and the hotel and save myself quite a lot of money. But..... I now have 20 hours overtime, 15 or so of which I amassed in last week and this week (including on xmas day).
Since we work with an exclusive time-for-time compensation schedule based on the calendar year, those hours are going to be voided without any compensation whatsoever. The time I'd spend in Antwerp was to be my partial compensation for the extra time I put in. Now,
1) I'll have to once again work overtime this week,
2) have to cancel my vacation,
and 3 work over half a week for free for my boss.

Wait, I can hear you say: why didn't you start sooner on the planning, if this was going to be such a big task? Well, because I wasn't allowed. "You can't have a planning procedure running for 2012 while people are still working on 2011 projects, you know, they might get confused! The machine has to serve the people, not the other way around!"

I think I now know what being fucked by the Man feels like.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Bummer. I borrowed my brother's car yesterday and it started to sputter out JUST AS I WAS PULLING IN, and so he's got to fix it. Though, the car has has such chronic problems he suspect's it's independent of my using it.

Which just makes me feel worse.

Ugh, I am in the "I don't want to go to work boat" too.

I realize it's now a super short week, but I still would have preferred to have had this week off totally.

I don't even want to hear it.

I have paid time off I cannot use because there are so many people with the week off already. Awesome.

So get it in writing that they now owe you 2 days for every 1 you were unable to use because of THEIR fuckup with scheduling. Plus you now get 1st pick of preferred dates until you use that time up.

As I said in the 'happy' thread I need to brush up on my maths skills and am currently going over colourful websites for children and answering questions. Its amazing that im genuinely struggling with fractions and such but just proves that unless you use even rudimentary mathematical skills they do vanish from your mind
