A worry to be sure. What's more attractive than a drunk academic? Answer: Not much.

Well, today was a disaster. I sweated about a gallon of fluids, and then I waited an extra hour in the stifling heat before giving in and walking home in the searing heat. All because daddy dearest couldn't be bothered making the 10 minute trip to the train station.

The heat got so bad today the council had to shut off power to suburbs on an hourly-basis to manage the load. But it get's even better. At around 5 a real blackout occurs, and we went 6 hours with no power, in sweltering heat. We didn't have any candles either...

i have mentoned the noise in class more than once to my teacher... she says she is TRYING to keep it low, BUT ordering january to be a pc free month aint helpin (im actually alowd to have my pc up but nobyd else is alowd and that just make em complayn an chat with each other rather than use msn or play games)

Consider this a test of your communication skills. If you calmly ask people to quiet down and explain to them what you're having difficulties with, they'll generally help you out and might even surprise you and go farther than the normal call of duty. That's been my experience thus far.

I have to say that you come off on here as an over-dramatic high schooler with an entitlement complex and poor perspective on things. People generally don't do stuff for assholes. If there's a continued problem after honest and calm attempts to solve the problem, then either you are surrounded by a large group of jerks with little disregard for others or there's something wrong with you. Which one do you think is more likely?

I worked as a high school teacher for a while, and I've also worked at a special school where a couple of the kids had Asbergers. I really don't think you know what you're talking about in all honesty. Asking a regular class of teenagers to quiet down will work, if at all, for perhaps as long as ten minutes. at the most. It has nothing to do with the kids being jerks, assholes or whatever, and everything to do with them being teenagers.

The name of the condition is Asperger's.

The kids don't have to be silent for eternity. I'm assuming that since they're in class, they're not chatting away and being rowdy the entire time. Ten minutes is probably just fine.

I had zero problems with people quieting down in class after I asked them, because they understood that I was deaf and got somewhat frustrated when I couldn't hear stuff. If people understand your reasoning and see that you have valid reasons for asking something, they're surprisingly likely to help you out.

Look at the reaction of the teacher that Beru mentioned: placatory towards him, yet not promising to do much more. I'm willing to bet that the noise is infrequent and the teacher feels that there is already a good handle on the situation.

Focus: I got a looooot of stuff to get done in order to watch the UFC and hit up a Super Bowl party this weekend. Zow...
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
