I flew across the country to attend a wedding. My luggage got there several hours before I did, which is no big deal. I am fairly sure it sat outside in ocean fog/rain for a while because my luggage now smells like seaweed - pungently so. May have to figure out how to do laundry quickly tomorrow if enough things within smell funky.

Oof.

Or it was rescued from the bottom of the ocean, after they accidentally dropped it...

So as someone with straight hair, and I keep it spikey to some extent, I have used a single hair product for about 20 years (since my hairdresser introduced me to it), TIGI Bedhead wax stick. It's costly, (about $40 on its own) but lasted me about 6 months. And eventually I found it in two-packs on Amazon for $50, so that's a year of hair product sorted for $50, that's not bad at all. And I had a system, whenever I started my last stick, I would order another two pack to keep. I've been doing this for years now without issue. But I went to start my last stick the other day (the 2nd of a two pack, the first of the two pack was fine) and the recipe has changed entirely. It smells differently (don't like the smell), and the consistency is more "whipped" than durable wax...like it glides on as If they added more water to the recipe and it's straight garbage now...won't even hold my hair an hour, let alone the day. The original recipe of the stick held my hair so well that at the end of the day I had to double shampoo it to get it out. Anyways, my assumption is that whoever co-packed the two into one amazon order put in one old recipe and one new recipe. I confirmed this was not a fluke and was indeed a recipe change online as others complained too.

So the TL;DR is that my hair product that I've been diligently using for 20 years is shit now and I'm left scrambling to find a replacement.

The silver lining is that on the thread about the bedhead recipe change I found online, some decent soul threw up some suggestions for similar products.....so I've ordered one, Flagship Dead Sea Clay EXTREME...

Anyways, I'l never understand why some companies cheap out on ingredients and decide that listing customers is better than charging a little more to keep the original ingredients. Like why piss off your user base? So stupid.

WAs on vacation and the last night I slipped going down the stairs and totally wrecked my ankle. Hit the ground hard. While I was trying to get my bearings I apparently passed out for a while and got 911 called on me. Fun times. Not sure what happened but the hospital wasn’t helpful.

You could always keep the hair short enough to be manageable without product. Wash, dry, pat down, good to go.

I have always used product, because unless I buzz it all the way down (no way) my hair is so straight and my genes asian enough that I look like a puffball without product. My wife would laugh me out of the house, even now she's the one who tells me to go get a haircut because my hair is getting "poofy".

It was never 80's spikey, more 90's/2000's spikey, and then Faux-Hawkish around the time Ewan McGregor did it...and it has locked in and stayed as that general hairstyle since then.'

EDIT: Also it's like 3/4 silver now too (combination of genes which turned my sisters hair salt and pepper at age 14, and age).

Heat did me. Got to the gym yesterday, was prepping to go into the work room and promptly puked.

Turns out I had heatstroke, so I had to take yesterday off of work to sort myself out. Not fun.

HA!

I was watching The Inbetweeners with my wife and I told her that Simon's doofy hair was what mine was originally styled like after I went from long hair to short at about age 16...the Ross look.

It doesn't look like this now, but it very much did for a few years.

Picture Pierce Brosnan. That's probably close enough.

That's horrible. Did you walk out in the 34C/90F weather for a while?

I've started using a loose sun shirt and a hat/sunglasses to get through long hours outside. Really keeps things cool.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I'd recommend this parasol which uses NASA technology:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M6GF96Q

Quote

The top layer is made from silver Solarteck fabric, which reflects most UV rays, reducing the temperature beneath the umbrella by up to 15 degrees (according to the brand). The blue underside of the canopy absorbs any remaining UV rays, giving an overall UPF rating of 55+. You can also use this umbrella to stay dry.

"The astronaut silver of the UV-Blocker UV Protection Compact Umbrella might initially make you a little self-conscious. But it's a well-made, portable umbrella that protects you from UVA and UVB rays as well as the occasional surprise rain shower," our tester reported.

I also like that it looks like a gigantic shining silver spear or shield.

They have smaller ones too.

There are also cooling vests and cooling scarves/necklaces that will stay cold for a few hours of use:

Sad. Only 67. Cardiac arrest. Guy was reportedly a lifelong alcoholic though, so not entirely unexpected.
