But someone who has no credit cards can in theory have a worse credit rating than someone who uses them frequently (and is, logically, a compulsive borrower, and logically worse with their money than someone who never needs to micro borrow)

So long as that person who frequently borrows, also pays all their credit on time, that is correct.

Tis a silly system.

Extremely silly. Having cleared all loans and credit card debts a few years back, I tried to get phone contract - and got turned down.

Apparently because I had no debt or credit/store cards, or anything I was paying back regularly. I pointed out that I had a mortgage, but apparently being cleared to make payments on a house doesn't count. If I'd had a load of debt, cards and loans it would have been no problem!

I ended up applying elsewhere and got a phone with a different network who didn't care so much about credit ratings.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Messing with my groove is how expensive the Cambridge English Proficiency exams are. Hrmph.

I cannot fathom why Cambridge needs 300$ to administer a 4 hour exam. It's not like the questions are special or anything.

The best part about it is, IELTS results expire in 2 years so a lot of the time people have to take it again.

I don't get it either. Though fortunately the CPE does not expire, it's still a lot of money for a test that is used worldwide in the same form. Like, I'd get it if it cost half that price, but that's just ridiculous and it becomes more expensive each year, and that's not even taking into account the courses that lead up to the exam, which are equally expensive. I mean, after looking at the sample exams online, I am confident I could walk in there at any time and pass, so it's doubly annoying. I want something as proof for potential employers that I can indeed use English freely just as I'm claiming, but there's no way I can afford spending that much money on a piece of paper. So much for trying to get official qualifications.

They just caught a serial killer in my city. I mean they caught him so that should be good news, but they've pinned two 1st degree murders on him so far (no bodies yet), and say there are definitely more, so that's awful.

It's also scary as hell to think this messed up bastard was operating in my city.

EDIT: Oh and he's a landscaper...so that's going to make finding the bodies a tedious affair if he doesn't fess up. I feel horrid for the families of the men he killed.

I'm not entirely sure about Canadian geography so I may be off, but... does anyone know of Abyss' whereabouts at the times of these murders?

He's in a whole other city. And his MO is "Army of Cats" I thought.

Did the victims have early knowledge of books that Abyss was wanting to read. If so did they have their brains removed and sucked dry? If not then it wasn't him.

Well, promotions are well and good but it also means that I now have to attend a bunch of more meetings and we had our most tedious one yesterday. We exceeded the allotted time by an hour and I swear I saw my departmental head plotting murder.

"...hosted by the University of Nottingham in the city of Robin Hood, Nottingham Forest and Trent Bridge."

Gnaaah, Robin Hood is *NOT* from bleeding Nottingham! He is from Loxley, which is somewhere between Sheffield and Doncaster. Get your filthy mitts off him, you evil sheriff spawn!

Okay, is it potentially a bit odd that I am getting irked as a Dutchman by false claims about a non-existing character? Or is it a sign that living in Sheffield (and briefly in Doncaster as well) is actually rubbing off on me?

(No need to console me for having lived in Doncaster; I escaped)

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Does the promotion give you enough power to organize your portion of the meetings or are you just filling in a mandatory seat so to speak?

Any progress with the surgery?

Nope, I can't really influence the general format, schedule or structure of meetings as those are decisions taken at a much higher level. My presence in the meeting was mainly required was because I was one of two people who had generated and organized much of the content and so I actually had some idea what was being talked about.

Met with the doctor today, more tests, surgery will happen as soon as the reports come in.

My SO either has a wisdom tooth infection or an ear infection. Antibiotics, X rays, more doctors.

Plus, despite the fact the she covers up three times more than I do, she has this awful cold.

For someone who has spent the last month under 3 layers of wool, this cold is a mystery

When it rains, it pours. All the best get well wishes to your SO from the Empire, Ando.

As for me.. It's been storming (as in 170km/h Winds storming) here for the past days and my head is killing me. Been eating painkillers like sweets. I do, however, refuse to skip my weekly gym day. This gonna be fun.

Also, beware dehydration on windy days. Yes, it's a thing.

Aaand they did! I hope for a headache-free rest of the day, got beasties to kill and fellow players to annoy later during D&D today :unworthy:

Really? Gotta google that... Though I generally get my 1.5 litres of water intake daily.
