Different advice in different countries here, I guess. Most places here encourage parent involvement to begin with if possible. Parents staying for a time at the beginning and then less and less time until no longer staying. And the 'don't look back thing' went out of style sometime ago. Now it's more 'kiss, hug, goodbye, wave from door/car/etc, encouraging words ie 'I'll see you soon, sweety'.

Kids adapt really fast. It may take a little time to get used to but it's definitely going to be harder on you then it will on them. :(

My parents tell me that on my first day of KG, when I had completely grasped that my parents were leaving, I basically started howling stuff like "where are you going, why are you leaving me" Took me a week or so to grasp it.

My brother on the other hand had zero problems after first day.

I can't imagine living where you live and each year are in some sort of threat from these storms man. That sucks. Stay safe.

My daughter starts daycare in less than a month...and my wife and I are dealing with severe anxiety about the typical things: Someone else looking after our kid, whether she will be well looked after (she'd better be, with the price we are paying for fancy-dancy daycare), how will she take to it or not.

They do a 9 day integration process (I'm on my vacation during that time from work so this will be my process to cover while my wife goes back to work after her Mat Leave ends) where she stays a little longer each day, and I pick her up and take her home for the rest of the day....with the 9th day she stays from 7-5.

My heart is absolutely breaking at the thought of it. I don't want her to feel abandoned during the day by us. :(

I'm sure we will all be fine...but it's turning out to be a really tough thing to go through as a parent.

She will be absolutely fine. My son has been in nursery since May. Our settling in was 5 one hour sessions where we stayed for the first one and then leave for the full hour by the end. I was really ready for the help as we have no family nearby but he had separation anxiety at the time. After the first session where he cried for most of it I felt so guilty that I cried as soon as I saw the building!!! I was really shocked by how bad I was. People who know me would not expect it from me and I didn't expect it from myself.

Long story short he was fine by the end of his first week and now he genuinely loves it. He's come on so much too. He started crawling within a week of being there. He walked within 2 months. They have messy play ALL THE TIME. I don't have to worry about socialising him or teaching him to share. I feel like a total dick for being so fussy at the start. And I feel so much better with the balance of mum time and work.

Take a deep breath and go for it. She really will stop crying 5 minutes after you leave. She will probably cry when you arrive to collect her as well at first but it is just because she doesn't know what to do with the emotions. It is child paradise compared to how much they sit and watch us do chores at home.

I'm turning into a hypochondriac. Problem is that lately I have been right and it's turned out I was actually really sick each time. Now though every time I have a minor ache I'm imagining the worst.

Which now has me juggling two thoughts. It's nothing and I'm stressing my mind and body by being silly. I should go get checked out right now I might be onto something again.

Complicating the matter is that it could just be the side effects of my treatment. Which means I'm not imagining the problem but it's also not something to worry about.

In addition to Gustav still being at the vet, I've done something to my neck/shoulder - it pinged when I was taking him up to the vet. So extremely limited mobility, very sore and painful. It's almost like a whiplash injury.

The new Taylor Swift single is godawful.

I have a sad.

EDIT: And proving herself to be quite evil, the single is not only a diss track at Kayne West (which is fine I guess, if a bit childish)...but the album is released on the 10th anniversary of his mother's passing...which is a level of "Regina George" I was not sure Taylor was capable of.

I haven't heard it yet, and from what I've been reading I'm pretty sure that's a good thing.
Also, I hadn't thought of this myself, but as someone on another site pointed out "look what you made me do" is also something an abuser will say to the people they abuse...I'm pretty sure Taylor Swift didn't think of that either, but yeah, it struck me.

Yeah, there are many levels of "messed up" in this whole thing. It makes me ashamed to own and love 1989 a bit if I'm honest.

Also when I say I want pure honey cups with my nuggets it means I want pure muthafucking honey cups. Not honey mustard. I always check and go back inside to get what I asked for but I'm pressed for time in storm prep

Change your screen name to Honey Cups.

Re: the Taylor song, I give it a C (the chorus is catchy imo, even if the verses & lyrics are subpar for T.Swift), but you're right about all the negative elements around it. On top of which, she seems not to know she already lost. The Kanye thing is settled. She was caught lying. There's not like two sides to it. Even people who hate Kim K. were like "I gotta admit, she was right on this one." So people were waiting for Taylor to show a little humility, not come back with a counter-punch. In that light it's a disaster of a song that might become a PR disaster generally.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

The venue I was gonna book for my birthday is not available the day I needed (b/c there's a 300+ people wedding there).

Need to move it to a different date, or diff venue. Given I have 4 days left in the country to figure this out, it's stressful and annoying.

The upshot is, I might combine with another friend (whose birthday is later) since we share the same group of friends, which might make the logistics work out better.

Still, I hate it when plans go awry....

The song is very angry, vengeful and vindictive. Also she can compose far better music than this.

Haven't heard from a friend since Harvey hit. He lives just south of Corpus Christi. His family live in Corpus but I know they evacuated but several of his friends stayed behind due to all the mixed messages they were getting about whether to evacuate or not. I hate how you can have good friends online but have no way to check on their wellbeing when shit like this happens.

I just don't understand how I can move forward in life, make a little more each year, and now have to be even more frugal than I already am. Goddamn alimony. Goddamn taxes. Goddamn loans.

This is insane.

How are things? There appears to be a lot of flooding. Is your brother ok?

Trying to get in touch with him now. It's hammering down. Lots of thunder. No wind gust atleast. Tornado warnings popping up like crazy.

On day 2 of possible 5 or 6 stalled Harvey. My temper is unBKlike atm

Hang in there. I am sure your brother knows to stay indoors and away from flood waters. They are saying its downgraded to a tropical storm. Hopefully you will be able to get in touch with him soon.

Damn, a horror movie legend has died. RIP Tobe Hooper. I don't man, I think 2017 is trying to punch 2016 in the dick.
