In hospital. Have a blood clot. Probably in my leg. I'm fucking 30.

On blood thinners now to dissolve the clots. Also on very strict bed rest. Can't get up. In case the clots move. Oh and I have a fever and diahrea. So that sucks

That's seriously bad luck. I hope you feel better soon! At least you're getting treated so I'm sure you'll be okay. It's a horrible thing but the blood thinners will set it right.

Did they check your blood pressure and cholesterol? You're really young to get a clot unless you're a smoker? Or on any medication?

Hopefully they can figure out the cause as well so you don't have to worry about it happening again.

Since you're on enforced bed rest maybe you can try and catch up on some reading/writing/drawing/gaming/Netflix'ing etc?

Strict bed rest and diarrhea is a potent mix. Be glad the laundry is not your responsibility.

But hope you are up and about soon. Hospital sucks.

Well there wasn't any structural failure, so no. Not really.

I just replied to your dog post and saw this.

I had a leg clot spin off into pulmonary embolisms and had a partially collapsed lung as a result. That was bad. Like nearly dying bad because I tried to ride it out for a week until I was paralyzed by the pain and shortness of breath.

It was caused by a leg injury that I over rested and by being heterozygous for Factor V Leyden, which slightly boosts clotting over a normal person.

I went off the thinners after six months and haven't landed back in the hospital since that April week in 2013. But be careful. My situation may not be the same as yours.

Take care.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Another resounding victory for the gun lobby and its staunch advocacy for keeping guns in the hands of domestic abusers.

Hey, if all those students and teachers had been heavily armed like the gun lobbyists say they should be, this would never have happened.

As I know from my wife's family, blood clot issues can stem from hereditary factors in your blood. My wife (for example) is at risk for blood clots when her blood volume is up (like when she was pregnant and after birth; she had to be on blood thinners for 6 weeks after the birth of our daughter) due to a variant inherited from her mothers side (both her mother and grandmother had blood clots early-ish in their lives (I think my mother-in-law was in her late 30's when it occurred.

Hope you get better soon Cause. It's good to keep a weather eye out for the signs of a blood clot if you're at all prone to them...but I'd check your family history and see if there is any history of it or if you have the factors in your blood that can contribute to it.

That way you know in future to keep your eye out for things that could result in developing one.

Got rushed into A&E as well the other day with a terrible pain in my side. Turns out it was a kidney stone. A bloody kidney stone. I feel old now.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

If it helps, I had a kidney stone at age 22. Easily the most painful thing I've ever endured. Doctor said it was because at the time I drank next to no water, and only drank pop and milk....both of which contributed to the stone.

I commiserate, that's not fun. And is also the reason I drink almost exclusively water now as a rule.

Omg, Ando, so sorry to hear that. Hang in there.

For the past 2 nights I've had to work at home for a deadline at work, not going to work before 1 AM.

And today I get to work and it turns out all the work I did last night I didn't save. And my deadline is actually today.

Fortunately, I now know what I need to get the task done today, (because I spent 3 hours yesterday studying it), but I'll be doing so from memory without notes.
