I hate big cities. The air there is hell for my allergies. And too many people. If I could, I'd avoid talking to anyone for at least the next week. Never been happier to be back in my end-of-the-world-backwards town. Been down with something not quite a cold and not quite a serious allergic reaction for two days. I swear, every time I spent any kind of time in Frankfurt, I come down with something for days. That city's a plague.

Isn't it fun to come in to work on a busy day and.. surprise update! Probably of something vitally important like Adobe Reader.. takes only two hours, whoever needs to work?

That takes about 6 weeks to recover properly.

They take that long? This would explain the recurrent injuries to my left leg, I never give myself enough time to heal.

To get back to normal, high ankle sprains take a while. Otherwise, a normal lower ankle sprain will take a couple of weeks. If it's the latter you can walk on it within days; if the former, the weight on the ankle makes it harder to walk normal so a couple of weeks.

Playing soccer, on the otherhand, would probably take 6 weeks to play.

I've had both. Sucks, but that's what crutches are for.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Its definitely lower ankle and it all seems to be muscle, the bone is ok. I may not have a choice about walking though

Isn't a high ankle sprain actually a broken fibula?

Coming down with a cold, which I hope isn't a flu. Although the heaps of people around with the same symptoms would seem to make it a flu.

The baby has started to roam around in his cot at night. So after sleeping through for the last 3 months I'm now up every 3 hours as he gets his head stuck in the top corner. Little idiot

Just to confirm - you're not allowed to tie them down, right?

I remember seeing pictures of myself from when I was a toddler. My parents would have me in this sort of "snuggie" full body suit that was suspended from elastic cords hanging from the ceiling. I could touch the floor and sort of run or bounce around in arch of around a meter.

My family tell me I used to fall asleep in the thing and they'd just leave me there for hours.

Some times I wonder about my childhood.

Just make sure the cot base is on its lowest setting - my boy went from roaming about to climbing right up and out, falling down and hitting the floor with his head and scaring us silly (we hadn't even seen him stand up at the bars so heaven knows how he did it).

The little buggers can climb!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

 truth.

I climbed out out my crib when I was less than a year old. Then I crawled under it and raised my head.

I still have the scar from the stitch on my eyebrow from that.

You could swaddle. Same effect, less chance of criminal charges.

Agree, swaddling works like a charm. Though it should be noted that IF you swaddle, the time will come down the road (usually once they can turn over onto their stomachs on their own) when you'll have to wean them off being swaddled. That's the trade off.

Also recommend leaving them with one arm out of the swaddle.

And you don't even have to do it with a blanket, you could use SwaddleMe ones and they change as they get older (eventually a sleep sack which just keeps their body in and both arms out.
