I'll join the club. And next week I have a job interview for a job I hate even more.

Meanwhile, I'm so sick that I can't even get to the computer and assemble the portfolio I need to send in for a job I actually want, and the deadline's on Monday. There's hope I'll manage that much tomorrow.

Just witnessed someone yelling at a girl in a headscarf in Leeds station "We voted - get out of our country."

Thankfully myself and plenty of others intervened - but I have a horrible feeling this will only get worse because an extreme of morons feel they've had their views partially legitimised.

I sometimes wish I drank.

This would be shocking enough if it was an isolated occurrence but it appears to be happening everywhere. When you legitimise racism for long enough, people will step out and act in a racist way!!

What's messing with my groove is the massive right slice has come back into my drives.

I was starting to get to a stage where I was happy enough to go out for a round with people other than the lads, then tonight just every bloody shot was wonky

My ex wanted to have me drop the kids off somewhere despite our divorce agreement saying explicitly she was to pick up the kids at 3:30 at my place. I said no. I didn't say why, but after she was ten minutes late after I did her a favor and watched the kids an extra hour last weekend, and asked her to be on time no less, she was going to come at 3:30 and pick up the boys from my place.

I hate how she is willing to assume her time is more valuable and that I should accommodate her each weekend for whatever comes up. I don't like conflict, but I am not going to shy away from it either. It was over text, boys never saw it, and I am content with that at least.

crap. starting to develop bruising under the eyes.

It doesn't hurt at all. Looks really bad, but I'm not really concerned about that, b/c I don't look in the mirror with any real frequency.

I'm just slightly annoyed that it's showing up 4 days after I got hit.

That's the option I choose. Never a lot, but usually a pint or two every night. It's either that or quit, and although I HATE the job I like having my house, car, and food money.

I was just informed that the guy responsible for training me died yesterday. He was 67, in great shape, and talked a lot about all the cool stuff he would do when he retired in August. Died quietly while taking a nap.

I didn't know him well, but my colleagues did. He's worked at the university for almost 40 years. By all accounts a great guy.

Sitting outside of work, feeling like I'm about to have a panic attack. I had shitty stress dreams all night. This isn't working.

Can you imagine what it would be like to be able to go home tonight and never return to your current job?

I can; it would make me so damn happy. I'm bored of this place and everyone in it.

My groove is messed because I'm stuck here for the forseeable future - it pays well and I get to spend time with my kids, plus I don't know what the hell else I could do to equal my current income. I just hate the job, I've never seen the point in working somewhere you don't like and I've fallen right into the trap - wide eyed stupid.

I may have to bite the wage cut bullet and go back to archaeology, at least I'll look forward to my work days.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

That's my current situation.
I dislike my current company, it's contract managers and boss.
The work the throw us into with no organisation and basically their whole approach to projects.
But they pay relatively well (for being able to go home to my own bed each night and basically being in charge of myself) I'd struggle to find someone else who pays as well for doing as little at home. I can head across the water for a bit more money, better projects, better working environment, but I'll only get home at weekends at best, likely every two.

What to do

Life is short Maccy and your job represents a good chunk of it. Get out and live a more fulfilling life, even if that makes you poorer.

Severely depressed. Continue to be battered by shitty days at work, fighting with the ex over how to pick up the kids for our road trip, and feeling bottom of the barrel lonely and hopeless. Nine years are gone, ashes and soured memories. Worsened by seeing how much of a self-centered, money grubbing, irresponsible bitch my ex-wife is. And trapped, by the simple fact that I have kids who are deeply precious to me. Please tell me it gets better and that maybe if I find someone else there is a chance I won't have another scar to add to this poorly healing wound right now.

Generally this is how it works...

Right now you feel like crap.

A week from now, you will still feel like crap.

A week or two after that you feel less like crap, then remember why you felt like crap and resume feeling like the original crap.

A week or two after that, you will still feel like crap, but less crap. You will remember how crap you felt and feel better about feeling less crap than you felt.

A week or two after that something will happen and you will feel like crap all over again.

BUT, in less time than above, typically only days, not weeks, you will feel less crap.

And shortly after that, even less.

You may feel like crap again, but only briefly. Maybe a day or two.

And shortly after that you will look back at how crap you felt at the start of the mess and decide that you feel better now. You remember the crap, but it's a memory, not a feeling.

And it gets better after that.
