I'm currently sitting in the kids ward at the hospital with my boy.

He was sick last night, and threw up what looked like a few
small berries. Which look remarkably like those found on a plant in the garden, which it turns out is Virginia Creeper.

Which, from what I have googled, is highly toxic.

I brought him in as he couldn't keep anything down all day.. he kind of improved, got hungry, had lots to drink, and went to sleep. He woke up a short time ago and managed to throw up on my only t-shirt before falling back to sleep.

And apart from checking to see he's getting enough fluids,
the Dr's haven't really done anything.

I really hope he's ok by the morning. (I'm not going to get any rest, because being a kids ward, it is of course like a goddamn bus station in rush hour. And the nurses obviously haven't worked out where the volume control on their monitor is - I would go and show them but I'm now wearing a giant peach hospital issue pyjama top which just might take the edge of anything I say. Fucking excellent.)
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

My team (Canterbury Bulldogs) in the NRL grand final went down 30-6. Considering the winners (Souths Rabbitohs) are my 2nd team, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't such a belting. Sigh. :D

Day 2 of my girlfriend's five-day trip to her relatives and things are very very bleak. It does not help that the area she is visiting has scrappy cell phone coverage and so all I get are like 2 texts and 5 minutes of conversation a day.

Home now at last, two days and a night on the kids ward.

At least he seems better so far, weird not having him in the same room after sleeping right next to him last night.

And tomorrow - back to work, in the same hospital. So much for the weekend! Hope he's on the mend.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Had the workday out of the darkest, deepest pits of hell yesterday. I wonder if today will be similar.

Also, we (the sales dept) moved our office into the new building... the toilets on 1st floor are still not done, as well as the entirety of the 2nd floor, ground floor and basement. There's construction still going on in the building and we're breathing dust.
Now, how does an office end up having to cook up their own transportation for all the furniture they have to move from office to office with no support from the company? Gods.

The House, through excessive Gerrymandering, is controlled by the Republicans, so they can essentially stock the committees they want with their candidates.

There are clips of another (now retired, I believe) House Rep (Republican) from this very same committee calling evolution a 'lie straight from the pit of hell'.

The hilarity is in what they say and how they got there, and the sadness is the fact that they actually control where a lot of government money goes.

Something happened in my professional life that I can't talk about and it's killing me! Well, I could but if anyone found out it would be instant dismissal. I'm terrible at keeping anything secret.

And I didn't get enough food in for dinner so I'm hungry but my holiday made me fat so I shouldn't snack.

Need to exercise restraint all round. I hate restraint :-(

Sounds like you know something that could be worth something. Just remember that an honest person can't be blackmailed, so make sure it's something the other person can't afford to get out. And don't get greedy; only ask for what they can afford with just a little sweating. too much and they might try to eliminate the problem rather than paying up.

Bah, had been lined up to have a nice easy day watching BT engineers install internet for our Christmas site and then hang around with a book for 4 or so hours waiting on a lorry to arrive with kit on it. Now we find the job has been raised against the wrong exchange and too top that the landlord is being an arse. So it's all coming back to my normal site which means I have to work today!

My grandmother's now in hospital with a really low white blood cell count. Posted Image Because of her compromise dimmune system a throat infection blew out of all proportion and the doctor is administering iv antibiotics.

After the last two absolutely hellish days at work, this next one is going very slow. Why can't people pace themselves more so I have a steady workflow instead of peroids of absolute insanity and borderline boredom? Grrrr.
